A new pool movie perhaps, Walkway Joe ??

Straight to "Video on Demand" for May 8, i think Joey said

So i guess that means no theatrical release

Was Poolhall Junkies in theaters? That was a really cool movie, even though the pool segments were very laughable, in a bad way. Would have really enjoyed seeing it at the theater, but I can't remember that it had a theatrical release either, and it had some big name actors in it.

It was in theaters a handful of targeted cities to see how well it would do at the box office. It didn't do well enough so they didn't distribute it anywhere else.

The movie doesn't look TOO bad. The actors are okay, it seems, but it's the same old story. Pool players are bums that must be saved from themselves. That may be true, but I don't want to hear it:grin:.It does seem a little "daytime television-y". We've all been preached to death allready, can we just leave pool alone please?

As to realism: How many people make a living hustling in bars today? I doubt it's any sort of number. Undoubtably some do in the Phillipines and Thailand, but in the US or Europe? No, probably not even 20 people, and if they are, they're probably starving. That's hardly making a living, they'd probably be better off selling t-shirts on the street or being handymen.

I hear ya. :lmao:

Hollywood ain't reality. But it can be a nice escape from it. Doubt a pool movie would attract much if it was about the differences in aramith balls or table cloth.

Now maybe if they made one about a table mechanic by day and serial killer by night, that might be good. Every victim is found with tournament chalk under their tongue.

Yep, it was in a limited theater release for a week. I decided to do a road trip just to get out of town for the day and went to see it in the theater. The closest city it was showing was in Omaha about 3 hours away. What the hell, I drove up to see it in the afternoon and was the only person there lol

Jimbojim...Robert (Cotton) LeBlanc was the consultant. I spoke with him at length about why he couldn't at least make the actors at least LOOK like pool players? His response was that he showed up on set, and asked Rick Schroeder if he knew how to play pool. He said yes, and you see the result. Bobby told me he had about 15 minutes to do anything before they started shooting.

Anyone know who was the pool consultant for this movie?

Chicago was also one of the cities. I was there on opening day, and there were 3 poolplayers there, including myself...nobody else.It closed in Chicago after just 3 days. I had thought about flying out to LA for the premiere. Sure glad I didn't spend the $$$ to do that!
