I was in a tourney last night, 8 ball, race to 1, and the following were my last three balls in the final in the loser's side bracket. The first 4 balls were pretty routine but I had a problem in that my opponents 12 ball was blocking my 2 ball so, what to do?

The first table shows that I decided and set up to bank my 7 and brush my opponents 12 on the way in which fixed my only real problem. BTW, the brush off of his ball had to be called in this tourney, which I did.

On my 2 ball I hit a medium speed, big draw, low right (5:30 on the clock), with a good result, cue ball landing at position "B".

Very nice "called" shot on the 7 and a very nice win KC, personally might of tried playing follow on the 2 but then again I am not that good on draw.... Congrats....

Loving your posts with the diagrams.... You are a cuetable aficionado now :thumbup: .... Will you be watching the man who helped you master it? He is playing Archer....

One thing jumped out at me:

On the first bank/kiss shot the pocket may have been a little "bigger" for you if had played the 7 off of the rail first. I guess it depends on where exactly the 12 was. Playing it to hit the 12 directly required an almost perfect shot which you obviously accomplished. I think my shot has a little more margin for error....just depends.

***Just looked at the diagram again and it looks like the 12 may have been too far away from the pocket for my shot.....dooooh!***

I thought long and hard on whether to use follow on the two ball shot but, ultimately, felt the potential for running into traffic may have cost me on the follow.

The softer draw was appealing as I had a wide open 8 into the other corner but I thought I might get too close to the eight possibly resulting in a too close-tough angle play. That would have been a nice option though. And yes, that 11 ball could have wrecked the game for me. It was close!

Obviously, more to practice. Always, more to practice. :grin: :eek:
