A none murdered animal cue please.

This may have been mentioned, but I'm not gonna read through this whole thread to find out...I'm just curious...there's a LOT of zoos and circuses in this country with LOTS of elephants in them. What happens when they die a natural death? Is their ivory harvested?

You will get some very strange looks, or worse...

I realize that your English is not too good, but sometimes even the slightest
mis-wording can be misunderstood, and might even get you into a little trouble.
I think if I was to say the following words when I walked up to the counter of
an upscale poolroom, I might actually be thrown out:

"Hello. I do not want to come off as bad gay, but could I rent a none murdered
animal cue please?"

In my opinion, you might want to refer to the cue as "a cue manufactured from non-animal
materials", or something like that. I just had to include your funny original typo, I
couldn't resist.

I saw charles barkley once say on tv (he was off cam but walk to view to make his statement) "animals are only good for 2 things. first, for food, and second for testing products on" (all the while holding a big cheeseburger and chomping on it)

This is also nice, but i don't think you'd want this..

ha ha ha that was a nasty typo, too bad for me that someone saw it before i could edit it :0

I didnt read through a whole lot of this thread, but I doubt an elephant is killed for the soul purpose of making a pool cue...

I guess it depends on how you look at it, but they way I will look at it is like the infamous stolen cue thread...

Ok so there is Gina who got her cue stolen, let us call Gina an elephant and the cue is ivory, so the cue was stolen and sold to Rick, we can call Rick the cue maker....Rick bought the cue not knowing that it was stolen(not knowing an elephant was murdered and now holds the ivory)

Is Rick a bad guy? I would say no....

I know that was very confusing and may not be a proper contribution, but hey it was a thought

They kill elephants to make your precious ivory cues... elephants are the most peaceful animals on this planet... they are herbivores and they don't harm other species... and yet humans kill them to make cues that could be made even more beautiful with out having to kill a utopia animal like an elephant.

Does no one care about this at all?

Poor elephants...

very sad.

This is one of those rare posts that should be put in some kind of a time capsule for future people to see...
As far as the "poor elephants" being "the most peaceful animals on earth",
go to YOUTUBE and type in "elephant trainer stomped" or something like that...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS9AQGpe87k.
There are many such incidents of elephants killing people. I personally would vote for the bunny rabbit as being more peaceful than the elephant. I think I am now dumber for having wasted the time to read & respond to this.

I'm going back to the real imortant threads....

Silence... the only solution

Geez, 11 pages of argument... Comon people.

No great mystery here... that's what happens when a skillful troll does his thing.

Sure some times elephants attack their trainners, when they try to escape from captivity and such...

Oh yeh, bunny rabbits...

Oh yeh, bunny rabbits... If the original pool cloth was felt,
did you know that felt is made from compressed rabbit fur?

Anyways, im off.

Thanks everyone for helping me gain perspective on cue materials and mock ivory.

And thanks for showing me considerable cues.

Peace.

whitey2,
It took a couple of minutes for me to stop laughing enough to be able to type again...I was never going to look back here on this thread. Ever again. I'm glad I did. :}

Hmm, I thought the quote a few posts back was funnier.

Hmmm, you thought the "rabbit/felt comment" was that funny?
I was kind of hoping that the earlier "words not to say" post was funnier.

I was actually serious about felt being made from compressed
rabbit fur. To verify, I'll inclide an excerpt from wikipedia:

From the mid-17th to the mid-20th centuries, a process called "carroting" was used in the manufacture of good quality felt for making men's hats. Rabbit or hare skins were treated with a dilute solution of the mercury compound mercuric nitrate. The skins were dried in an oven when the thin fur at the sides went orange - carrot colour. Pelts were stretched over a bar in a cutting machine and the skin sliced off in thin shreds, the fleece coming away entirely. The fur was blown onto a cone-shaped colander, treated with hot water to consolidate it, the cone peeled off and passed through wet rollers to cause the fur to felt. These 'hoods' were then dyed and blocked to make hats. This toxic solution and the vapors it produced resulted in widespread cases of mercury poisoning among hatters, which may have been the origin behind the phrase "mad as a hatter" and the character of the the Mad Hatter in Alice in Wonderland.

Yes i do view all lives as equals but i was just making a point that if we were the ones who would be in a situation where we would be hunted down for sports and our body we would have more compassion and empathy towards other lives then the majority of the people do now.

Not complicated really.
I think your English is very good actually.:)

Back to skills for a minute or so...

Is it me, or does it look like her aim is off a little?

Edit: Oops, wrong thread. I can't seem to find a way to delete this post.

Anyone knows good cues that aren't made with dead elephants? can you please suggest me a few if you don't mind? Thanks.

By the way, I'm not trying to insult anyone, i was just wondering if I'm the only one who cares?
Ivory is not used now as much as it was in the past ! due to two reasons, 1) the innability to acquire it in large quantities (for those with little socail consciousness!) and 2) the newer harder more durable materials available the mimic the old ivory that are less expensive and easier to get!

I agree with you the slaughter of elephants is disturbing and IMO! morer disturbing is the trend presently for some to want to over turn and or change the laws prohibiting its legal sale ! :(
