A Professional without Integrity

What do you folks think about this. These heroes of ours should be good people, not just good Pool Players.

I don't think that just because someone plays pool well, that automatically puts them at higher standards than everyone else. If this particular person swindled you out of money, then yeah, that sucks. But why is it bad just because he/she is a professional pool player? Wouldn't it be wrong if anyone did this?

One of our greatest players has Stiffed me for $400. He took two BreakRAKs with a promise of selling them at his local Pool Room & sending the company the money.

The player has been aproached a few times, over 2+ years, & PM'd here at the AZBilliard site, but the promises are never fulfilled. A couple of other high ranking Pros (friends of mine) approached the player at Allen Hopkins, about the rotten deal.

The player would rather be a liar & theif, than cough up $400. This doesn't seem right for a person to be that way. The future of Professional Pool may come. With folks like this, companies will have to be wary about sponsoring the players, which degrades their profession & their livelihood.

Being exposed will increase the chances of this person turning over a new leaf.

At this point your enabling him to DO others.

Think about it....

of course it would be wrong but the fact that it is a pro pool player makes it more relavent to AZ Billiards. Amirite?

I think posting his name is kinda like when you were little and your mom made you go back into the store and tell the owner you stole some candy. It would make everyone aware of him and make him ashamed to show his face. JMO.

Southpaw

You mean your Mom didn't threaten to do that only if you didn't split with her?

...

I'm against these disputes being aired out on the forum.

I'm talking generally here, not about the specific situation. But many times when someone feels totally ripped off, a deeper look reveals some disputed conversation or situation. It's so often more complicated.

When one of the parties is a business person or someone with a reputation to protect, the scales are way off balance. The irate complainer has nothing to lose by seeking a sympathetic lynch mob here, and the business person has to jump in the pig pen.

Relevant to AZ, absolutely... I was merely referring to the quote from the original poster about how the "heroes of pool" should be "good people" as well. And I believe that applies to everyone, not just professional pool players.

I agree that everyone should be good, but everyone is not a "hero of pool".

I did not add the name, because embarassing someone isn't the intent. I am asking the community about ethics & integrity.
Going out on a limb here...

Ethics and integrity: yes.
Scumbag dishonesty: no.

I agree that it isn't right to be promised things, and the person not carrying through on their word.

But I would warn against naming names in this situaton. That is a bag, once opened, that cannot be closed again. I don't know if $400 is enough to ruin the reputation of any person.

I hope that you exhaust all avenues to try to get the issue resolved privately.

Mike

Mike, that is exactly why I haven't named the individual. The emails that have been shared back & forth, are on the PM part of this forum & I have made copies & photos of them.

Once the individual is named, there is no erasing that black mark, no matter how small it will become in the future.

Some of the posters here have sorta made me the bad guy, for even posting the situation... go figure??

95% of the world has the same poor attitude when it comes to money.

99.999999% of pool players have this same attitude.

Good luck in getting paid.

I vote that everyone gets one guess on who the top pro that welched is---and if we guess correctly, you have to let everyone know.

Was it Efren??:D

WRONG !
People like that are NOT ashamed to show their face and could give a chit about who 'knows about it.'
Doug
( I know a few people like that and they are oblivious to how people view them )

You know what, there are few people that I don't see some sort of positve in. But some people / pro's are really jerks. A dealer actually sponsored a pro for the year. You are looking at a couple of K probably minimum. Anyway, the guy went to the US Open and didn't even wear his sponsor's patch. Imagine, the only thing in the contract that was required, the guy didn't do it!

Wow. Anyway, he has been ditched by the company now. I'm wondering why some people are just jerks.. or plain dumb.

"...I am asking the community about ethics & integrity...."

There's no question here about ethics and integrity. Do you really expect someone to say that this was ethical?? Honestly, you really posted this here to veil a threat to post his name if he doesn't pay you. Hope it works out for you, but if you posted his name it would help all of us.
