A question about your local pool hall prices

Our APA site is a 16 table rough smoking bar type place. Seems like all the APA guys get free time, the core group drinks pretty crazy and goes there 2-4 days a week. I go less often lately b/c my GF got a real job and can't work off of 5hrs sleep as I used to this past year.

Anyway! Free time is good. Not sure what normal ppl pay. Crappy balls, stained tables, crooked sticks. They work though. Keeps ya fighting tough!

I pay $15 - $20 per hour.... A table will pay for itself in 1 year :( :D

Problom is the rent, elictricity, and the almighty insurance @ 15-20 how would you keep customers coming back? Its about return customers You have I think ten years to right the tables of your taxes. I t's getting everyperson that walks in your place to spend that $20-50 everytime they walk in with a smile and make them feel like thier accepted here. and not just a totum pole for an hour's worth of rent.

Quite interesting too read that most of the US poolhalls charge per hour and person.

Here in Germany it's per hour and table, no matter if you practice alone or play doubles
Discounts during afternoon are common, flatrates are an exception.
Most poolhalls have discounts for league players of the club the poolhall hosts, not for players of other clubs

the room I play in in Munich is 10 Euro/hour no matter how many players-its prorated by a computer, which is ALOT since the $USD is worthless nowdays.:(

$5/hr is about normal. $5-10 day specials (from 11am-7pm generally). $10-$20 night specials (7pm-2am generally, usually for players).

i don't recall. there was a sign that said due to their rent going up they would soon be raising prices. the tables were in decent condition. a little lower and the pockets could be tighter

In Michigan there is a up scale pool hall chain called Snookers. With a $7 bar bill (including food) you can play for free from 11 to 5. You can also go to a local Moose hall and play on their bar boxes for free.

If I were you I would buy my own table. Save on gas and can play whenever you want.

Man it all sounds so cheap. Free? Flat rate unlimited? Here in socal the best I've found is Mr Lucky's $3/player/hour daytime, but generally am stuck with $9/hr for 2 players (HOB) or even $12/hr at some places in ktown (I usually play with a friend). Too expensive. Some places (Embassy) are even $12-14+! Singe player!

3 dollars an hour is great as far as table time goes. and 9 dollars an hour is really only 4.50 an hour. you got it good bro

i guess i was more complaining about the $12 and $14/hr places, even for single player. a bit ridiculous for average/mediocre tables.

$3 and $4.50 is pretty good but i rarely find enough time in the daytime to play, and the evening prices are significantly higher.

Tell me again why pool rooms are closing everywhere. could it be they don't charge enough? when you go practice for FREE do you drink alcohol? probably not. So where are they making money off of you? Do you think the tables recover themselves? how about the person/s behind the counter are they working for free? If they are the owner the answer is YES!!! Not saying the membership is bad it's a great idea but the people on here that say they go play for free & then only on league or tournament days otherwise, are taking advantage.
TAP, TAP, TAP.

You represent the 1% of players that understand and care about what low rates do to our sport. Many players wonder why a place charges $4.00 an hour and wishes it were less, while at the same time wondering why the place that they frequent, that charges $2.00 per hour, won't get the tables recovered more often.

Usually when someone has a suggestion how an owner could do better, they are looking for a discount. A win, win is if you offer a plan where as you continue to pay the amount you pay now and the owner finds a way to give you more table time and service for that amount. He can't continue to go backwards without eventually going out, period.

Support your local pool hall. It may not be there next week.
