A question regarding etiquette

At my pool hall the chairs are pretty close to the bottom corner of the table. You occasionally have to move them to make room to shoot. What is the proper etiquette when you're in the chair? There are a lot of situations where your opponent is shooting right toward you and you are clearly in their line of sight. Are you supposed to stand up and move during those shots or just stay completely still?

If my opponent is shooting right at me I typically stand up and move to the side a little just to be polite. However, if they are already down on the shot when I realize ill just stay still while they shoot.

This is true in most instances, but on occasion I like to shark a little so, when my opponent is down on a shot, I will occasionally fart, and then giggle. It is very disconcerting especially if it smells.

I'm a firm believer in chemical warfare as it's been used against me in multiple battles! LOL

You need to improve your sharking. Play a safe, and before you walk away, THATS when you let it go!

I would just sit and watch. Do nothing distracting. Most of the time when you are over the shot, you don't see anything beyond that.

I think getting up and moving is more distracting for the shooter than just sitting still.

I don't move if I'm in the chair and in their line of site. Just stay still. The only time I'll move is if I'm in their way of their stance/stroke. I'll do that on my own to give them plenty of room.

i guess i would say is it a money game or tourney? then the proper thing would be to get up and move and take the chair with you. if not a money game or tourney then just stay put and farting is a proper move. however, the players should discuss discuss the potential problem and have the chair removed to a more appropriate place.

No matter where you sit, close to the table or a little further away, at some point your opponent
will be playing a shot where he faces you. I have never even considered getting up.

I just sit still and try to kind of gently look away from my opponent. Getting up seems silly to me.
Off course if I am standing close to the table then I move, but if I positioned myself, say, 10+ feet
away from the table standing then I will just stand still.

Hmm, and this question / concern comes from the guy that calls azb members with aiming systems Nazi's. Funny how that shit works.

When you see players wearing a baseball hat with the bill forward do you think they wear it to limit their vision beyond the table? I often wondered if there is a pool related reason some shooters wear a hat other than because they may like to. What do you guys think?

I never sit in a chair.....it might be plugged in. :yikes::yikes::yikes:

I stay still, but I often point out that they're not lined up properly for the shot.....

most people appreciate that, ;)

This is how I approach it, tho I'm far more likely to move if I'm standing their shot line as opposed to sitting. Either way, I try to get out of their shot line if I can. This comes from growing up playing golf.

That got me in trouble with someone when I was starting out playing pool. I kept moving to different areas as my opponent was making shots (not while he was shooting, before he even got down on the shot) before he made me aware that wasn't how it worked in pool. So now unless I'm in his direct line of sight, I try to just stay still.

I'll tell you buck, it's never safe when I fart.
I bent over, the other afternoon, to shoot a pesky little two railer, when I inadvertently farted and blew out one of the light bulbs over the table next to me. The woman who was playing there fainted dead away. Evidently she thought that someone had taken a shot at her.
Her boyfriend came over and asked what I had done to his lady friend so I stuck out my finger and asked him to pull it. He pulled my finger, I shit my pants, and the next thing I knew I was on the floor seeing stars on the ceiling.
The good new is I made the two railer. :)
