If they want Diamonds, give them Diamonds!
If they like Propellers or Peacocks, give them that too!
:)

Your right Greg,

Yea, this is only my 2nd cue with a notched diamond. Until I made the trip this summer and met you east coast guys I said I would never do all those traditional features and I had my head up my ass and was being close minded. A player in Chicago wanted a cue with those inlays and I soon found out it was very popular.

Then my eyes where opened and I realized that this is the kinda stuff people want on fancy players. I am not sure but someone told me this was the veneer stack on Barry's dad's playing cue, Not sure tho?

You live and you learn.

Excellent combination of traditional elements with a modern twist.

Yeah...notched diamonds...more than traditional...

Very nice design. This one is truly great. I really like it.

That's one really sweet cue!
What are the specs on this beauty?

Kevin

Kevin,

Sorry for the late responce, my scale broke had to get a new one.

This Cue is:

Butt 14.7
Shaft 3.9 & 4.0

My cues are all designed to be slightly forward balanced so bringing it up to about 19.25 would not aft load the weight and balance.

Other Features:

Parabolic Tapered Shafts with modern pro taper climb

Parabolic Tapered Forward Balanced Butt Geometry

Butts Built of solid laminated maple full core

Flat Face Joint with big modified pin 3/8" x 14

Garolite Shaft Inserts

So does this mean that the butt section is 30"?!

Hey Z,

The cue is 58", 29 and 29.

Thanks for pointing that out it was misleading. I build them on a 30" dowel but 1/2" sticks out of each side of the blank during the build so the cue clears the blade before and after the passes on the table saw lathe machine.

What a Handsome Cue.........Any Esoteric Cue Owners Out There?

The looks are terrific, however, Esoteric cues are unfamiliar to me. Any readers out there with firsthand experience with Rick's cues? The ivory joint looks to be shorter than most ivory cue joints I've seen or played with and is reminiscent of the shorter ivory joint I've seen on some Andy Gilbert cues.

How is the ivory joint on this cue different than other designs? It looks to be an ivory collar surrounding a wood face center. Wood to wood is supposedly the best feel in a cue joint and the cues I own either have a solid ivory flat face or a piloted ivory joint. Does this style cue joint design offer any advantage, or superiority, in its design versus other ivory cue joint versions?

I realize that trying to answer the aforementioned question involves a subjective answer but since I've never played with an ivory joint like this, I felt it was worth posing the question. I love the cue's handsome looks and the weight is exactly what I prefer in a playing cue. I just happen to own a 4x8 Instroke soft leather case which I've never even used but this cue me give thought to doing so. Wow.....what a incredible batting order line-up I'd have in that cue case.

Are there any forum readers with firsthand experience owning/playing with Esoteric ivory joint cues? If the cue plays anywhere close to its great looks, then Rick's cues are indeed a cue most would be pleased to add to their collection.

Thanks,

Matt B.

Matt,

This cue has a Juma Joint not Ivory, only ivory inlays. I don't do Ivory Joints unless it is a custom design order and I sleeve them with juma.

Yes, my joint has an exposure of wood to wood on it's contact aspect ratio.

Thanks,

Rick
