A visit to Eddie Wheat's shop

Looks like some rickety equipment. I'd be nervous.

I thought this was going to be a rip-off confrontation or something, with all the threads circulating about wheat cues...

That's a Taylor tenoning machine and could cut the tenon down and then be used to turn the ferrule down to shaft size. It was a great machine in it's day and cost $170 thirty years ago.

FWIW, I took that video in December of 2008 when I visited Eddie's shop on behalf of Majix and Billy incardona. I do not believe George or Billy have had any contact with Eddie since then. I know that Billy eventually washed his hands of it and couldn't care less about Eddie or the cue. Eddie has to deal with the consequences of all of that.

Either he's nervous in front of the camera or he's lying...

I disagree with you, he was very honest at the end of the first video when he said "Not very professional there" Also he said he was here to clarify a few of the discrepancies such as using markers and defrauding customers, yet all he showed is that he "knows" how to make rings. He never denied using markers, or ripping AZers off, or starting his own Wheatie Bucks currency to get out of debt. He seems honest enough to me!

So since I was lucky enough to miss Eddie's presence here what was the explanation (not speculation) he gave for the Sharpie rings? I found the pictures a while back but they had been reposted and I could follow what the whole story was around it.

I'm not looking to reopen old wounds, I'm just interested in how things came to drawing pictures on a cue instead of doing the work. Also if anyone has a link to the original thread on discovering the rings, I'd love to see it for my own reference purposes.

"As a matter of fact there is a very good reason I have not YET answered that question:

Becasue I really don't care about what the few of you troublemakers actually think ! If I say no, I'm lying... if I say yes, I'm lying... so it really doesn't matter one way or the other becasue the truth isn't what you seek or want to hear... "IT'S DRAMA" ! But I will say this much: That was a very sneaky and vile stunt to pull and I thought no one get any lower than what ARNOT WADSWORTH did to me on AZ !

I build rings obviously and have all the equipment and use it do the job, it's actually very simple and easy to build them, it's just time consuming like every other aspect of cuemaking and since I really do enjoy building cues, I have no problem spending the extra time do it !

p.s. As I stated several times before: I did NOT come on this forum to start trouble, nor am I picking a fight or wish to squabble over differences... I'm simply a cuesmith/cuemaker and player who wants to discuss our common interest, learn useful knowledge from those who take the time to offer it, as well as sharing mine and pics of the cues I build with those who are interested !

"Remy know's I actually built them, which is his why after he realized after the stunt Varney pulled just to step up from the bottom rung on the least favorite cuemakers list he pulled all of his comments and pics, this also had something to do with the fact that Dave Sapolis "blackjack" was on his way over to get some work done and physically saw Tony's leftover rings and some newer ones I was building and assembling... Apparantly, Tony got a little nervous about the real truth and erased all of his self embarrassing comments that would have made him look like a fool and discredit his integrety !

P.s. (MABEY) you decide !

Eddie Wheat

Back in the day when Mr. Ed was posting on AZ how great he was, I pm'd him about building me a cue.
His response was vague and edgy (for lack of a better term).
I've contacted and spoken to a lot of cue builders and his response made me realize that he was not a cue builder.
It's just too bad some good people on this forum were dragged into his BS.

Always looking for Wheat Bucks.

Peace

Ted

I saw a picture of a blue cue with obviously drawn on rings under the UV, and another with a dark (Cocobolo?) butt and you could also see the sharpie on that. So those are two instances I read about. Is he saying Varney did this, or...?

As I mentioned earlier, if it gets people very upset then feel free to PM me instead. I'm interested in what really went on. I don't think I've ever seen someone do something so (I'd like to say "out-of-character" but it doesn't fit with what I've read) ... disreputable before.

...and for those who want to learn more, or take a walk down memory lane...

I read through all of that, and several other threads but could never find the Sharpie incident. Perhaps I will search through more but I have a feeling they were all deleted.

I recall seeing images of the sharpie cue and hearing about it, but don't know where the thread is. There is always a chance it was removed. I was actually surprised to find the one I posted a link to still here.
