Not sure if this was posted....but this got to me via email....

Greetings ~

My name is Julia Jenkins and I am a senior casting producer for ABC families hit reality show 'Wife Swap.' We are currently casting for our fifth season and we are looking for POOL PLAYERS! We want a family that is passionate about the sport of pool.

The premise of Wife Swap is simple: for seven days, two wives from two different families with very different values exchange husbands, children and lives (but not bedrooms) to discover what it's like to live a different family's life. It's an interesting social experiment and a great way to see your family in a whole new light. It is shot as a documentary series, so NO scripts and no set. It's just one camera that is documenting your life.

Families that appear on the show will receive a financial honorarium for lost wages, time and commitment. And if you refer a family that appears on the show you would receive $1000.Here at 'Wife Swap' we look for a two-parent home with at least one child between the ages of 6 and 17 living at home full time.

If you are interested, please email me your contact information and tell me a little about your family. Or if you would like to refer a family, please email me their contact information and I will be in touch.

Thank you!

Now all I need is a wife for the swap :D ANY VOLUNTEERS? :embarrassed2:

banger,

A friend of mine received a similar e-mail letter from "Would You Like to be a Millionaire". They requested a small fee to cover research in advance. When he went to the appointment all the way across his state, it turned out to be a scam. Be careful!

Hey Lyn...At nearly 56, I'm not that far behind you! LOL My mom calls them "senior moments". I call it 'some-timer's disease', and I'm afflicted!:D Hope ya know I was 'funnin' ya!

The email has made its way around most of the community, but it does appear to be legit. RDF USA/RDF Media Group is the creator and producer of the show.

That being said, I think a more appropriate show from their portfolio for this industry would be Hitched or Ditched.

Behnke

Can you say the Behnke's. Talk about a family dedicated to pool. Mom runs out for goodness sake. Somebody call them.

Hell yeah!

I'd have to agree with the Behnke's for certain...or maybe Shane's family, they're both prime candidates IMO.

I'm fairly sure this is legit. Most of the people that received this email are ones that are involved in running tours or major companies in the billiard industry from what I have heard. Trigger asked me for suggestions and we submitted the Behnke's and The Shuffets. Shane's family doesn't qualify, no children between age 6-17 that live at home.

It could be a scam but I guess we will find out. I hope it's not, it could be great for pool if the rest of America can see a respectable family like the Behnke's and their connection to the pool world.

That would probably be the best publicity that pool could get on national TV, for this type of show anyway. From all I have seen and heard, the Behnke family would be a great representative for this. I hope it is a genuine opportunity and they are looked at as possible representatives.

I don't know them personally, but I think it would be tough to find a family that fits the profile better than the Behnke's.

We received this email a few days ago and I have traded several emails with Julia. As Julia does in fact work for the production company, I'm quite confident that this is legit. It is not uncommon for reality shows to do casting calls, especially if they are looking for someone to fill a specific "role".

Am I understanding this correctly ...

This is for WifeSwap right?

So not only do they need to be passionate about pool but they need to be willing to be put into these god aweful situations that they place the swappers into right ???

I can see it now.. one family loves pool and sports and the other family believes the pool table is the devils playground.

I dont believe if I were married that I would ask my wife to be on that show. Only way to win or for it to be positive for anyones family is if it paid a bunch.

There is no pool player that I dislike enough to recommend for something like this. Especially if they had a family!

I never paid attention to how bad the show could be. I have seen it advertised and I guess it could be hard on a family and maybe not be worth the exposure. To many people, whatever they had to deal with be worth the "15 minutes of fame". I guess I should probably watch it and see how brutal it is before I recommend a family for it.:)

I agree completely. that show go's out of its way to put people in akward situations and then sits back to watch (and film)the fireworks. I dont think they would show pool in a postive light, in fact theyd probaly go out of their way to bring up all the seedy elements of it and then film the pool familys reaction to these mischaractarizations.
