About Ordering a Full Splice Cue

Hi all,

My first post in AZB. I have limited knowledge about cues, so pardon my ignorance.

I've decided to get a custom cuemaker to make me a full splice cue. However, I have a major question over here.

Supposedly I want a full splice, consisting of cocobolo points into BEM forearm. Is there actually a certain ratio of the amount of BEM and cocobolo used on the cue?

To get what I mean, go to superiorcues dot com and search for the link to John Davis blanks I or II. Sorry guys I can't post links due to limitations imposed by the forum.

See the first blank. Realize there is a lot less BEM used on the blank, compared to the other wood being used? This is exactly the kind I like.

I have also seen quite a number of full splice cues, in which, the amount of BEM used on the cue is almost 45 to 50% of the butt itself, which is what I do not like.

When ordering a full splice cue from a custom cuemaker, are you actually able to tell him how much BEM to use on the cue? In other words, I want very long splices, if this is the correct way to put it.

If this is possible, can anyone recommend me any cuemakers who can do this (preferably less than USD$1200 if possible )?

The davis blanks you like are standard with 10" front wood. This creates a very long point that ends much closer to the joint area.
I think that if your serious, then you should contact John Davis about building the entire cue.
