Emptied out my paypal balance. Now I have to wait until the remaining funds are transfered to my bank account. Once that happens, I'll close out the account.

The problem is if you sent the cues and got all your money.. then you really cannot file a report. If you lost any money, you can file. They will have to file the dispute and you'll get to answer. Paypal agents will tell you what you want to hear in most cases, then boink you later. When we had that Szam stolen, we heard lie, after lie after lie. When he filed the report he automatically got the favorable ruling. It's brutal, and painful.

I'm sorry to hear about the trouble. Speaking from personal experience you won't be able to close your PayPal account until the chargebacks have been cleared by the credit card company involved. I am still waiting for closure on the chargebacks I paid out on.

Were the items sent to a confirmed address? If they were you are in good shape. If not then you still have tracking info that may help your case.

In the mean time I am using Google checkout for my online payments. They charge 2% plus .020 per transaction compared to PayPal's 3% + .030. It's not quite as convienient as PayPal but it works.

It's especially sad to be a victim of fraud when your small business. I was lucky and got my cue back but I could have just as easily not and it would be a double loss on my part.

paypal can not touch your bank account



i had the same thing happen. i sold a palmer on ebay. after shipping the guy said it was unauthorized. i talked to him on the phone and everything. paypal debited my paypal account. so i was 2400 in the neg. for 3 years. i sent them all emails name phone #. i also shipped to confirmed address. they never came after me. finally they wrote it off.

so now i never ship until paypal clears my bank account. only ship fully insured to confirmed address only.

i dont know about overseas. thats why some countries do not have confirmed addresses.
 
I would call Dick Cheney and tell him and Bush that through a good friend of a friend, who happens to be an expert petroleum seismologist over in Indonesia, you learned that Indonesia is sitting on probably the world's largest oil reserve ready for the taking. But first transfer your money from that bank to a different bank and consider closing the account or blocking any future paypal withdrawals from that account. There have been cases where they automatically remove the money from your bank account. Check out PAYPALSUCKS.com .

if you have authorized PayPal to use your bank account or credit card as "backup funding" then they CAN take money out of your bank account or charge your credit card for any debits on your paypal account.

Move your money. Make sure that all "backup funding" options are disabled. Change the accounts that are tied to PayPal. Then make sure that you provide all the pertinent proof that you fulfilled the contract on your end.

PayPal does not automatically side with the buyer. But they do sometimes make you jump through hoops.

And for everyone INDONESIA is off the table for anything but cash on the barrelhead.
