My first cue was a Wes Hunter, and even though I'm very happy with my current player, my Hunter is the one cue that I really regret parting ways with. His cues play on the stiff/meaty side, but not as 'crispy' as something like a Southwest. His shaft material is some of the best I've ever seen. Really tight grained dense material, so one of the things I liked about my Hunter was that I was able to turn the shafts down a bit without the shaft getting whippy.
I've always felt that his cues are so unorthodox sometimes in design, that people tend to overlook them. If he made more traditional looking cues, the quality and playability is there. Very underrated as far as I'm concerned.

They are as good as it gets when it comes to quality of craftsmanship and playability. Awesome playing cues. Sadly, I will be putting mine up for sale soon due to divorce. It has a brazilian rosewood nose and five tiger maple points and three shafts. If not for circumstances created by my impending divorce, I would NEVER part with it.

Thanks for the feedback. That's inline with what i've been hearing, i just don't know much about him so i'm fishing for more info. Thanks again.

Wes Hunter

I also had cue of Wes`s.I bought it new i also regret selling it He makes a very good cue.His work very good. Like Dave said they are very stiff hitting cues.

I have done business with Wes for
several years now. Good guy, straight
shooter, never a problem.

I have had 6 Wes Hunters, they all play great. I still have my first one and it is my player, the best cue I have ever had. I have bought and sold many cues trying to
get something better, but there is no way you are going to get a better built, better
playing cue then a Wes Hunter. I have bought new shafts from him and weight bolts also. He has always been great to deal with. Do you get the feeling I like his cues?
Tom

thanks for all the replies. it seems there aren't many users of hunter's cues.

I own one and it's a very solid cue. I like his taste in design, with the southwestern look as he calls it. As for the hit, it is very stiff with a nice sound to it. I would recommend one if you like a stiff cue.

hunter classic

I bought a Hunter recently and really like the way it plays. Quality is excellent. Love his ringwork. He seems to be very underrated and I can't figure it out.

...not cool buddy....first the cues now the watches...I want the AP ROO Survivor...that's a sick ass watch. The RB2 is my all time fav ROO absolute classic...you're payment plan sounds bloody enticing buddy...haha you have me working my a$$ for cues and now watches?? Honestly you should keep the RB2, it's in short supply and always sought after...appreciates quite a bit too...

Hey Jive...I have a Bacote sneaky that Wes made for me, and the cue plays great..If I remember correctly (not sure on this) Wes offers 2 different shaft tapers..I went with his standard taper which is a beefier thicker taper that plays really stiff....Most of the cues I've seen carry a Southwestern flavor (not Southwest cues) which makes sense beings he is in New Mexico..

Jive they play very good. I sold one to a good friend of mine that wanted it very bad and Did not want to and should not have sold it. Wes delivered on time also and was very easy to work with. I remember a guy beat me out of some cash in Illinois in 99 and asked to hit some ball with his cue afterwards. It played identical to the Rick Howard that I used at the time. He is definitely one the cuemakers that flies under the radar and deserves way more recognition than he gets.
