ABP boycotts Berhman's event

Are you guys working towards getting sponsors (billiards and non-billiards) behind you to create a tour?

Imagine working at your job and your boss comes to you and says there is no money to pay you . Will you go back to work there ?

I think analogies are way over rated. I look at each situation individually. But actually since my employer has paid me over a million dollars already I would stick with them and wait to get paid if there was a shortage if I thought they were going to come through with another million before I retire and that's the truth.

We are here now to answer questions because we know that all the facts are not out there !

Barry says the players have been payed in full up to this point. The ABP says there are still monies owed.

Who are the players the ABP is claiming are still owed money?

This boycott thing was tried before and failed miserably. It was also a HUGE mistake by the ABP to go public with it now. If the players wanted to boycott the event they should have tried to reach a private agreement with the promoter 1st and if that did not work they should have silently just not attended the event. The missing players would have brought on more press and good will and power for there organization after the event by simply not being there. Which they could use towards future negotiations with other promoters and future events. As it stands it looks like the ABP is trying to damage the US OPEN this year.

Shawn, I am wondering if the ABP ever considered this ?

That's just my opinion and while I can not give you a name you can just call me "THE KID"
14 months ago is when negotiations between BB and the ABP started ! This is NOT an overnight decision !

"ABPpros", how about you whip out your phone and take a picture of yourself. Why do I believe your 15 and in you pajamas.

So list who did not get paid in

2008
2009
2010

and how much they were owed and how long it took to get paid.

Also, is anyone still unpaid.

I, for one, agree that it is time to stop robbing Peter to pay Paul and don't see why the added money shouldn't be posted. I would hope that Barry has made some friends/business ties over the years to get this done.

If it started 14 months ago and a compromise was not reached then why did the players play in last years event?

This really makes no sense.

In respect to BB the players wanted to play in the event after PROMISES were made. We cannot do that again !

At this time we are not at liberty to give that information out .

So your entire argument is financial, and your claim against Barry is that he doesn't pay the players, but as an organization you're not willing to give information about players not being payed? That seems like a very short sided stance with no facts to back up your claim. It seems like if you're not willing to prove your points then the entire argument is moot and baseless.

So you are saying that last year was his last chance and he knew this then? I am sure he did we all saw the PR's about this and how the prize money would be on display and yada, yada, yada.

That was very noble of the ABP !!

BUT what is the point of going public now. Are you trying to force him to put up the money this year. Is that the real goal ? And if that is your real goal and based on what you said earlier about the Richard Sweet event then why would you also boycott the Turning Stone events?

Lol. I have always taken a stance that I have no problem displaying my full name. I wouldn't say anything on this forum that I wouldn't say to someone's face. I think hiding behind a keyboard is a very weak thing to do. What kind of name is Hungarian Nut? You're parents must have hated you (j/k).

Bottom line, we want to get paid as soon as the event is over. That hasn't happened in recent years and we have to move forward from here.

edited to add full name. :)

Maybe I'm missing something, but I dont know how anyone would even consider having an event where having the prize money is being bet on the come. If the money is there, pay it. If it isn't, stop saying it is.

Lower the "advertised" added money, cut the budget, do whatever you have to do to keep your word.

All of the great things Barry has done and all the great feature (green jackets, roses, scorecard girls, etc etc) will fade to the memory of the prize fund not being there when the matches are over.

Rite now our only concerns are with the ABP members ! Your more than welcome to join our organization !

Thank You for the response and the invitation but I will have to decline since the ABP is for top players and I am just not at that level.

I do have another question, since the ABP is setting standards for how the money is being paid out, what standards has the ABP setup with other tournaments such as the Seminole Tour to ensure they dont short change the players?

I guess I am just thinking that no matter what the history of a tournament is, I would assume that the ABP would submitt a standard legal agreement with every tournament director because if they dont, then they will always get screwed at least once prior to them realizing that there is a problem.
