A friend and I usually tune in over the radio speakers and hit some balls while listening to the show. Makes for a great time.

He didn't ask my question on what happens if two or more players are tied in 3rd place in the Mosconi Magical Points

yea, i caught that -
we also don't know WHO will be on the team -

but what we DO know, is that it is entirely our fault.
and their primary viewership (the UK), LOVES the fact that they whip our US asses every year....

.

Good stuff.

Loved hearing pat, though he didn't even mention me once:grin::sorry:

Luke riches is a big man. While I would like to see those Canadians, Alex an Matt krah:eek: join our team, I kinda like how he stuck to his guns about a consistent product and hesitance to possibly dilute a brand that has been established.

I woulda liked to hear more about a 5 and 10yr plan, plus how he sees his showcase event it the context of pro pool, but I had my chance to ask, didn't i?

I am not sure why you keep asking who is on the team :confused::confused:-- they have clearly stated how the players are going to be chosen -- 3 earning a spot on each team and 2 wild cards picked in October.

1) everything is subject to change, IMO....
2) if the 10 of us are going to Mosconi - it is pendant upon WHO, for USA, will be IN IT....
3) re: #2, which is possibly pre-determined @ this point (see #1)

I knew I was going to miss someone or something. Very sorry. However I did wake to a message from Luke regarding this and here was his answer.

One of the guys on AZ asked what would happen in the event of a one or more players being tied for the third automatic spot.

If this was looking like it was going to happen, we would notify the potential players in advance of the US Open or during, and let it be known that we would organise a play-off to take place the Monday directly after the Open at a suitable venue.

The format and race of said play-off would be determined nearer the time. We would employ someone to officiate and would compensate the effected players for their time.

So there is your answer from Luke

Thanks Mark -- the best thing is that the last tourney for possible points is the US Open. Less chance of a player letting his buddy get by him to get points.

Tell Luke thanks for responding and he is welcome for all of my free advice.

wow that seems like a pretty crazy way to resolve it. I'd think they would maybe just look at number of games won in the US Open, or something statistical like that.

Your idea sounds logical but I think we both know that no matter what they decided to do someone is always going to say it's unfair to someone. Your idea for example would be met with 'Hey, I had to play Earl, Archer, Appleton and Efren. He played a homeless guy, and the bell boy at the hotel. Ya know?

Very funny.

Also, a playoff adds drama which is interesting

3 days after Halloween? is Matchroom going to cover their expenses?

Yes - Mark posted in what you quoted 'would compensate the effected players for their time'

And not sure why 3 days after Halloween is an issue.

i missed that - thanks. good that they will compensate!

Halloween was an issue in an earlier thread where Barry (Roberta) was taking a poll on what day to end it - 30th or 31st. many posted that they had families & wouldn't be participating if it ended on Halloween, so Barry changed the date to the 30th. i guess MatchRoom will either be covering 3 days hotel, or travel & 1 day hotel for them to return to Va Beach.

Oh yeah, you can't worry about people complaining. I'm just surprised they'd set up a separate small event. Even just having the captain pick between the two (or choose both) seems easier than having a tie-breaker match. Eh, the odds of it happening are low anyway.
