ABR 2Nite: The New GCVI - Q&A With Brunswick

You guys are silly. You had 3 weeks to come up with questions, but instead, you post yours the day after the interview airs, and wonder why they weren't answered.

Are we supposed to read your mind?

And wtf is this crap about forgetting the names of components?
Just dreaming stuff up I guess.

Yep. Just dreaming stuff up I see.
The episode is 38 minutes long. We didn't discuss anything but the table until the 27 minute mark.
Exaggerate much?

Yeah because Glen will give you a totally unbiased and professional analysis LMAO.

Very few questions answered??
Sheesh

ANSWERED:

1. Expected release date
2. Expected price
3. How long to develop
4. No playing surface specs will deviate from previous GCs
(BCA specs mean same pocket and cushion angles as before)
5. 4x9ft only, yes tournament edition available
6. No change in slate + slate sources
7. Change in number of levelers (reduced)
8. Slate bed/frame changed slightly (reduced)
9. Rail surface options
10. Design change description - Pedestal, Stretcher, Castings, Envelope, Box
11. Castings are Zinc w/brushed nickel plate finish
12. Superspeed cushions used and quality discussion
13. Discussion of past inaccuracies in pocket angles
14. 3 letter code use
15. Exact weight not known but heavier than previous
16. Why globally sourced
17. Castings not supposed to be level with rail
18. Not doweled and why
19. Ball return option discussed
20. No score counter
21. Color/finish options
22. yes, playability and quality testing

I am not supposed to tell you as an interviewer how to conduct an interview. You are supposed to know that. But, as a hint towards future interviews what you should do is let the interviewee describe the table first. Let him divulge his information. Then ask questions that are submitted.

Example.....

Mr. X can you please tell us about the new GC VI?

Let him ramble. He will obviously have things to say that will be above and beyond what anyone might have wanted to ask him. If he answers some of the questions on your list then you can mark them off. Have him elaborate on some points that might not have been clear. If he points out subjects that were not part of your list you can then have him elaborate those points. Drawing the interviewee into an in depth conversation is the goal. In this case outside of the history of Brunswick.....#epicfailure.

There you go attacking personally again. A member asked that question on the last thread.

How about this attack, if the rails are more than 7 1/2" at the widest measureed width, like the Metro, they're out of WPA spec's and therefore can't be used in tournament's....according to the WPA rules, and the GC5 rails were on the borderline, so with the GC6 rails being wider than the GC5 rails, they can't according to the WPA....be used in tournament's either....LOL

It takes Brunswick....to answer a question that has been common knowledge to anyone that knows anything about pool tables for 40 years, Mr. Bond should have answered that question without a doubt when asked in the first place! And, as the one doing the interview he should have compiled a list of his OWN questions to start out with, would have been a better interview that way.

Hey here's an idea...since some people seem to be quite dissatisfied with the quality and content of Bond's interview, why don't they pick up the phone, call Brunswick, get their questions answered and post them on here? Unless, of course, these people aren't really that interested in the answers and instead are more interested in jerking off to another AZ thread.

Got a better idea, why don't YOU call Brunswick and get the name and phone number of someone that KNOWS something at Brunswick and post the info here....then we'll be glad to make that call;)

So Brunswick not using pin & doweled slates is new to you? Just so you're aware, they dropped that system 40 years ago, you're behind the times even asking such a question.

This interview wasn't for me Glen, it was for people with questions.
I could have just called him and got my answers and been done with it, but decided that it might be nice to let anyone ask whatever they want, including whether the slate was pinned or if there was a score keeper, which I personally already knew the answer to.

Sorry but if the interview let you, or anyone else down, it's because they didn't take advantage of the opportunity to ask what they wanted to know.

" These specifications do not necessarily apply to tables manufactured for commercial home use. At its sole discretion, the World Pool-Billiard Association can sanction tournaments on tables not in compliance with these specifications."

Join us for a Q & A session about the new table with 20-year Brunswick designer and engineer; Ted Caron.

Merry Christmas to all from American Billiard Radio
Listen now: www.americanbilliardradio.com

I spoke with Ted for and hr about 8 months ago over the phone....he couldn’t believe Brunswick didn’t have me on the payroll.
I mentioned the added changes needed on the 6....but to not avail.
I told him the ball box needed to be separated in the blind....so to have 8 balls on each side for one pocket......and told him to put LED lights in the ball box to show the balls.....he didn’t know what one pocket was....but super nice guy.

Most all of my design on the GC5 was in the table.....all of 45 min. Conversation with Rob Sheets.....imagine if had 3 yrs to design a table....lol

I did receive (2) GC5 tables along with cushions...pockets....feather strips....hats shirts....I also gave a few sentences on what I thought of the GC5....they paided me 1750 for 3 lines.

They never even asked my thoughts on the 6....ok they went different direction for the 6.
A few weeks ago I tried to reach out to John Kasick the president of Brunswick as to ask him he would send me a GC6 so I could replace my 5 and see the build of the table first hand and see just how the table plays.

He never called but I did get word that his thoughts are.....that was 10 yrs ago and the guys just and installer......glade he knows so much.

I’m not and installer....and here’s the window if the so called mechanics at Brunswick want to test their skills against mine.

As far as I see so far...the 6 is the same table as the 5.....with lip stick change.
The 5 was and is th best built GC table ever made....PERIOD.

I make the best looking and playing table with my Centennail restore....(bar none)
Billy Incardonia has one with my light (LED) and Chris Horan has the other with my light.

Mr Bond,

Nobody is discounting your efforts. We all appreciate you doing the interview to begin with. I personally was looking forward to the interview and had no idea what the format would be (video, in person or in this case phone). You obviously were not getting paid for this. My initial response to this interview wasn’t necessarily bad. I thanked you then as I thank you now. You asked me to elaborate so I did. You immediately went into a defensive mode. I do not know you. Maybe this is your first interview. Maybe it’s your 200th I don’t know. Just telling you how it came off. I know very little about the GC VI at this point other than the fact that it has some cosmetic changes, the list price is the same and the playing surface is the same and they removed some of the levelers. That’s about all I know.

Again thanks for the interview and we will all await the tables arrival.

You also know how long they've worked on it and where the design came from.
(if you are interested, you can also listen to the interview with Colin Tury)
You also know that it will be available as 9ft only and a tourney edition as well.
(no 7ft or 10ft)
You know that the slate is from China or Brazil
You know the color options and rail finish options
You know there is a drop pocket or return option
You know how the castings are treated/finished
You know what cushions they come with.
You know why they are globally sourced.
You know the castings are not intended to be flush with the rail.
You know its not doweled and why.
You know there is no score counter option.
You know they test playability, safety and quality.
And you know all this before Brunswick has even put the table up for sale.

Again thanks for the interview and we will all await the tables arrival.

You're welcome. It was my pleasure. I spoke with Ted 3 or 4 times and he seems like a nice man.

I went into "defensive mode" as you call it, because you had just claimed that I forgot
"most" of the component names, and rambled on for " 3/4 of the show" about nothing, both of which are ridiculously untrue.

If you like the interview, cool. If you don't like it, cool.
But please don't speculate or say things about me or my show that aren't true.
If you need to, simply ask more questions.

Have a happy and safe holiday
