Thanks for the support! I look forward to seeing you more often in the near future. The USAPL and BCA 14.1 are going to be incredible!!! REAL POOL will always be promoted here at The Sandcastle! It is my vow to the sport - to do what's right for pool and it's enthusiasts.

Oldzilla- (A pleasure seeing you comment on my thread!)

I agree! I know so many people that are lost without it. As mentioned before in this thread, the calls keep coming in asking me what the latest news is. Pat Fleming & I are meeting soon. I hope we can do what's best for the sport. That's all I ask! I'm not a greedy person whatsoever. Henceforth, I'm real easy to work with.

As far as Mike Zuglan and hosting the tour goes, I spoke with him a number of days ago and at this point in time I will not host the Joss tour as it does not comply with my moral commitment to the sport and players. It will cost me (the room) way too much. I will be starting my day DOWN $2,500. I am not a bar. I do not have a full restaurant. (A half-kitchen and grill with good food only.) I cannot sell fresh grilled chicken at $5.95 and burgers at $4.95 all day to make up the loss. I will not disclose the tournament director's fee but it is a hefty amount for a pool room to put out as well. Getting a cue stick to hustle and raffle off for possibly 1/3 to 1/2 the initial posted added prize fund is not feasable. It may verywell just become dead money in the showcase behind the counter and collect dust forever. I've already paid for my stock of food. Why lose on that too? Not to mention, my rent for the location that would make it all possible to begin with is already paid for by...ME. Nobody takes out their tour for a room owner's fee. Even "green fees" wind up going out to the players and/or the tours in actuality.

Just like in the movie The Husler... This is Sandcastle Billiards mister. No alcohol, no video games, just POOL. We are a POOL HALL. I'm here to promote the sport and the players. I have 2 successful weekly tournaments and tour stops that EVERYONE benefits from. I'm sorry but why in the world should I LOSE anywhere from $500 - $2500 to host an event??? That is why pool rooms are closing left and right!!! We the players allow our own sport to fall by not supporting the rooms and players on a whole. My day job pays the bills to stay open for my players. My hourly rates are 25% - 50% LESS than the OTHER 5 pool rooms in my town and immediate area! (The other locations have poor conditions and tables 3 feet apart and NEVER host any events. THEY make a FORTUNE!) I DO WHAT'S RIGHT FOR POOL AND EVERYONE associated with the sport. I'M NOT knocking the tour itself or Mike Zuglan. Let me repeat... I AM NOT KNOCKING THE TOUR OR MIKE ZUGLAN. It is a GREAT event to enjoy and Mike is a very honest and kind man. I just don't agree with how it is funded nor can I afford to host such an event. That's all I'm saying so don't anyone get all heated up. I'm just stating the facts and how I work. I don't think anyone can argue with a man that saves a room from closing down and runs it FOR FREE! :) Can they?

I've sent players to the tour stops near my area and in NY and had them join just to support the cause. As a matter of fact, one of my players visit from Louisianna for a couple months at a time and just had then join at an event at Trickshots recently. If there is some other way to host the event, I MOST DEFINITELY WILL HOST the Joss Tour.

Anyhow, I think I've rambled on enough about that! I'll stop now. :)

I appreciate you understanding where I'm coming from. There are few that share my passion and dedication to the sport and I hope to work with ALL of them to keep our sport alive! Thanks again for the support!

I would just like to thank Scott Lee and Randy G for your support. Scott is in The Sandcastle right now instructing some of his students in this area and I'd just like to express my FULL SUPPORT and CONFIDENCE in the program. I've had the honor of traveling with and given pointers by some of the best players in the sport and Scott is touching on so many points of the game that I learned from them as essentials to getting you to the next level of your personal game. I give my personal stamp of approval (whatever it's worth as someone dedicated to the best interest of the sport) to The Traveling College of Billiard Knowledge. www.poolknowledge.com

Getting back to the topic of this thread... I hope to continue DOING THE RIGHT THING in the BEST INTEREST OF POOL AND THE PLAYERS in all future endeavors with Pat Fleming if all goes well (I don't see why not) and ACCU-STATS. There are several other icons and people doing good for pool that have contacted me with additional great ideas to discuss with Pat for the ACCU-STAT ARENA if hosted here in SANDCASTLE BILLIARDS - Edison, New Jersey. www.sandcastlebilliards.com OR www.myspace.com/sandcastlebilliards OR become a fan on www.facebook.com and search for Sandcastle Billiards.

Being in central Jersey, pretty much equal distances from New York City and Philadelphia via highway, train lines or busses, this is the most convenient and ideal location for accessing special events and functions benefitting pool and its enthusiasts and competitors. This is why there is so much interest in Accu-Stats coming to Sandcastle. www.accu-stats.com

I thank everyone once again for your support and phone calls! Please be sure to contact Pat Fleming at Accu-Stats to express your interest in seeing the arena at Sandcastle. Thank you once again!

The Sandman is doing a great job running his castle. It would be a great thing if Accustats decides to colaborate with the knights of the Sandcastle

Good luck

Billiardsboy - thank you so much for the kind words.

I opened a fortune cookie yesterday that said something to the effect of, "In order to capture a city, first capture the hearts of the people." I intend on bringing pool back by doing what's right and being true to the betterment of the sport and all the players. Hopefully then, I will be able to capture the billiards community (via Accu-Stats and live streaming) and serve it to my best ability.

What is this you speak of a " BCA 14.1 Tourney " please fill us in !!!!

Thanks
Steve

Its going to be a BCA 14.1 League.....not a tourny....going to be on Monday nights starting at around 7. Initial plan is for 2 or 3 man teams....it will be handicapped.

Initial Start date is 01-01-10 . League play will run 12 weeks with two weeks of playoffs.

It will be a cash league with cash prizes and money added. It will follow BCA rules and requirements.

Feel Free to pm me if you have questions.

Eddie (Sandman) is a good guy. Just played some king of the hill last night with Eddie and my little cousin until 4 am this morning.

Me and my cousin played a total of 8 hours of pool last night @ Sandcastle. Eddie was nice enough to make it easy on our wallets for the first 5 hours then played king of the hill for 3 hours on his dime.

BTW, Eddie loves the game so much he played king of the hill knowing that he had to open at 8 am this morning. He was not making any money off of me or my cousin the final 3 hours but stayed open to play anyway.

Eddie and Phil are good guys. Those 2 are the heart and soul of Sandcastle. Eddie and Phil always express their appreciation for anyone that makes a trip out to Sandcastle. They try to take care of everyone the best they can. I do get the occasional ribbing for being a Philadelphia Eagles fan.

I hope everything works out with Accu Stats because Eddie is definitely motivated to make it work on his end.

Bigtruck...I can echo your opinion of Sandman and Sandcastle Billiards. We had Day 1 of our road show pool school today. Eddie was the perfect host, and went over and above to make us feel welcome and comfortable. There is plenty of room around the tables (which play great, btw), and it's a nice place to teach! The students and I are looking forward to Day 2 and Day 3. We'll definitely be back to more pool schools here at Sandcastle!

On a separate note, Eddie showed me how he's planning to help Pat set up the Arena in his room. He has a perfect spot, and I sure hope Pat goes for it. I believe they're meeting sometime this week to make a decision!

Thanks again Sandman!

Spice Truck Rolling!! LOL

This thread seems more relevant now with Sandcastle wanting to host the Accu-stats arena.

Ray "
Ray and Scott -

I just wanted to thank you guys so much for the kind words. I wish I could round up all the gentlemen pool players in the area (and abroad) and have them all here at the Sandcastle. I had a sample of this dream today as the pool school was still in session, a nice reserved couple were shooting pool on one table, a man and his 7 year old grandson played on another table, two regulars were in some friendly action on another table, one of the action players' son was playing video games on the couch and all you heard was faint "elevator music" in the background and the lovely sound of balls dropping! I absolutely LOVED it! Hopefully we can complete that with Pat Fleming and lots of webcasted exciting events to peak some new blood interest in the sport! (God willing) :)

They make customers feel like customers and all you need is to say hi to either one of them as a customer, and they treat you like a friend. for me its a 45 50 minute ride that i just wish i could fit into my schedule more often. (especially for the weeknight tourneys)

and for good measure here's another shot taken there.
watch out for this one she's dangerous.
(giggles dont kill me)

Fleming & Sandman Meet

Well, the much anticipated meeting occurred this evening as the Sandcastle Billiards weekly 9-Ball tournament kicked off at 8 pm. Pat Fleming truly is a wonderful person and positive icon in the billiards industry. He is a true gentleman and I hope we can come to a mutual agreement on all that we discussed tonight. We both have dedicated hearts to pool and try doing what's right for the sport. I will keep you all posted as we both will be mulling over our discussion and contact eachother in the near future regarding the possible union of our businesses.

That's a very cool picture of Pam!

Sandman - I will see you soon.
I have been sick but I think I'm finally getting over it.
