The 8 ball on the break has had very little effect. After 2 days and 8 matches there have been only two 8 on the break made. Both by Corey. The players have been frustrated by the lack of balls going in on the break. It seems as if the breaker is at a disadvantage. With a big table the balls are mostly spread out. If the breaker does not make a ball then the other player has an open table.
I lost a $1 betting on Johnny.

In the same match. In a race to 8 losing two games like that is certainly going to have an effect.

I love 8-ball. I love Accu-stats. I appreciate the event they put together. But I think they got a few details wrong here...

"8 on the break is a win" is a bad rule in pro play and amateur play.
Hate the magic rack, especially for full rack games.
Red/yellow balls seems gimmicky and makes commentary awkward.
10 foot table for eight ball seems too big to me.
Don't like the shot clock for 8-ball. (there has to be a better way)

The winners are the fans. Great format. Great viewing. As far as the players are concerned there really is no winner. This is not a traditional tournament. Each player get a $1000 for each win. There is no entry fee. So far each player has made at least $1000 except for Efren Reyes. Two players have two wins. And each player has at least one loss. This means the most anyone will win is $4000.

It's been very interesting, at the end of two days the only one really out of it
is Efren. Hard to pick a winner since it seems who ever gets balls on the break
has the best chance. There have been a lot of dry breaks.

Just to note, they have gone to a standard rack and increased the shot clock
to 45 seconds. The clock was not a factor on the second day.

Thanks to Accu-Stats and all the guys who supported this event.

Appleton and Alex are both 3-1 going into tomorrow... Archer, Corey, and SVB are all 2-2..... Efren is the only one out of it at 0-4.... Tomorrow things can get interesting fast....

Sunday Aug. 12, 2012

1:00pm EDT - Corey Deuel vs. Efren Reyes

3:00pm EDT - Darren Appleton vs. Shane Van Boening

7:00pm EDT - Johnny Archer vs. Alex Pagulayan

Will be playoff rounds in the event of a tie........

Last day should be interesting, Appleton has seemed to come to the front.
Biggest surprise has been how the play has varied day to day, really like the format and
the 10' table has been a big factor.
