In August it looks like Accu-Stats "Make it Happen" Invitational series will be back... Straight Pool may be the genre this time around... No it's not 100% confirmed but the wind is blowing.....

Amazingly the one-pocket ended up matching the votes here on AZ for the most part... I left Corey off the list so we had write-ins instead which didn't help the voters choose him...

Anyway, here we go again... Pick your top 6 (six) players that you think should be invited to a straight pool/14.1 round robin event....

Thanks,
Chris

Alternate. Steve Lipsky..for the AZ horse.

It's tempting to pick creative guys like efren and corey, but in the end I think traditional unflashy straight pool will lead to some amazing runs.

Gotta pick Danny and JS just to get them in the same room again.

The germans are all amazing, Toasti being my favorite but Ortmann and Souquet also would be good to see, haven't seen enough of those guys lately.

Niels is my last pick because his straight pool is so careful and textbook. Every ball seems to be hit with care. He's won the European championship numerous times even with all those strong Germans in the ranks.

It would be fun to see Shane try his hand at the game. I'm not sure how much he has played it, but I'm guessing he'd pick it up with lightning speed.

I know he has played in the 14.1 tourney before but he is getting stronger every event so maybe he is due to actually make himself a force in that discipline as well.....

Neils
Thorsten
Mika
Jasmin
Alex
Shane

Not the best players for the lower 3, but I want to see how they do. I know Jasmin played straight some a while back, I would like to see how she does now. Shane, I would love to see how he does. Alex, the guy is a trip in everything I've seen so far, always entertaining.

I would also like to see Kelly Fisher make a try. Her CB control seems to be really good, she might fare well. Allison Fisher, as another possibility.

I do not want to see women vs women and men vs men, but treat it as gender neutral and random selection. Kelly vs Niels would be brutal, since Kelly doesn't play AFAIK, but something I would find interesting.

So many choices. So many great players. Jasmine does well against the men, and it doesn't hurt to look at her. I just watched JA on a dvd against Earl in the last 14.1 championships. John Schmidt won the last championship. I could not imagine not having a tournament without him. Thorsten is just amazing in straight pool.

Varner vs. Sigel 14.1, Banks and One Pocket all around.

I'm not sure Mike is playing much again... He stuck his head up a few years ago but I haven't seen or heard much lately

he is playing just fine, I played him 4-5 weeks ago, his 14.1 is probably his strong suit right now. He thinks it is and I agree with him, he can run 200 with 4.5" pockets, right now, this week. give him a couple weeks to get in gear and it could get better.

that would be great to see, both guys are still playing real good, if the right $$$ was posted by the right people it could possibly come off.

the German guys do play good 14.1, they have big pockets here(i'm in Munich now) I havent seen a pocket anywhere on a pool table less than 4.75" anywhere, some bigger, almost 5". So they get used to making lots of balls, helps them develop differently i think.

Also German people try and win every inning no matter what game they are playing(for the most part), where in America we lay down and play safe, or position balls for later in one pocket or 8ball, they dont do that here-they are balls to the wall, kill your opponent right now!!! its a interesting contract in styles.

I cant say enough good things about all the guys I met here in different rooms, they treat me so nice and are wonderful to be around and play, talk, meet etc. Germany is a great pool country. Pool is suffering here some as in America.

Earl Strickland and Nick Varner

Earl beat Archer in a thrilling 14 1 match ,and Varner commentated. I think Nick might do well also

hmmm anyone know how to edit a poll... I should have included Sigel and cannot figure it out.....

This event happening right around the time of the Worlds 14.1, the cream of the crop 14.1 players will already be in town !!!

Pat may have to expand the field for this one !!!
