Accustats in Reno?

Rick thats ok man its all in good fun. Im not worried about pool making money im all for that! I have been called a pool freak, i love the game and would love to see it in the limelight more than anyone. I have alot of the accu-stats matches and watch them a great deal of the time, I just think the price could be a little lower to get more people to buy them, Ive talked to many people about the price in person and on other pool messege boards and its the same thing everytime they wish the price was cheaper so they could buy more and more.

I think they are a little high too but I wouldn't call Fleming and his company greedy. It's the law of supply and demand imo.
But, the price being 25 dollars or so has created some bootlegging business. I know one pool hall who rent the tapes and people dupe their tapes.
The law of supply and demand is proven by the higher price of billiards tape. Somehow they are a little higher.

At least it's not like the recording industry. So count yourself lucky.

The way I see it, there is nothing wrong with making a profit. I think that with all the costs Fleming has and his crew have. They just want to break even. Making a profit is secondary.

Im sure they have lost alot of money over the years with people making copies of their tapes, Not alot of people are willing to pay that high price for the matches, they could kill two birds with one stone if they lower the price just a little.

I honestly don't think its a high price. I can justify spending that much to watch something I enjoy as often as I like.

So how much is a litte. 5 dollars a tape? 10?

People are always going to want something for nothing. Not saying you do. but I couldn't justify lowering the price for the work that goes into it.

I think we who call ourselves "pool freaks" or who love pool should really be thankful to Pat Fleming and his operation. Imagine if we didnt have these tapes. I played in the early 60's where you had to beg to get a good player to explain a difficult shot or his philosophy on the game. Or get beaten bad by him by playing him a game you couldnt win all to see how he plays. These tapes besides inspiring me have given me a great insight to nine ball, one pocket, straight pool, and billiards. And as one who has participated in the making of over 50 features and over 300 segments of episodic tv I can tell you that the production quality is top rate. These accusations of GREED are irresponsible , ignorant and unforgivable to a man who has the utmost integrity in our game we love so much. I dont know where one gets the nickname KING but a good King listens to the people and what they are saying. They dont go around saying "I dont care what you say this is my opinion".

No problem KC, my main point was that compared to other sports, pool is really pretty cheap unless your favorite pool hall is extremely expensive.

Ok ill take back the greed part, that was unfair ive talked to pat on the phone lots of time when i made orders on the videos. Yoba i dont want nothing for nothing i just think it would be better for all if the tapes were a bit lower. yoba lol you need to relax man its not that big of a deal,

Ok King I will relax. But someday lets really talk about the things that are keeping pool down. It aches me to see that Tennis, Golf, etc getting more recognition than the game we love so much. Pool is one of the only sports where I know you can lose by sitting in the chair not having a shot. It is a very difficult but beautiful sport when played well. People like Pat Fleming only give pool a good name and should be supported.

Wow! I'm glad I didn't flame Pat or Accustats! :) Flaming Pat is stepping in deep doo-doo :) as he and Accustats are well like and highly respected from just about everybody...I think.

KC, imo, you did yourself proud by backing off your stance a bit. You were overly harsh, you recognized that and you admitted it. That was a strong move. It take a well-rounded individual to publicly admit he was wrong. I'm impressed.

Hay KC i'll call Pat and ask him. And get back to u .But the dvd's are High but that is y never give up the VCR.

Yobagua you and i are on the same page, Nobody wants to see pool get into the big time more than i do! It kills me too when i see golf and even the lumberjack games on espn lol. My whole point here was that i think if the tapes were a little lower it they could be enjoyed by more people who love the sport buy cant pay the high price for the videos. JIMS Im not backing off my stance one bit, i do think the price should be lower. I do take back what i said about pat and accu-stats they are a driving force in pool and bring us a great product!!

One last point. What might drive costs down is if there are more producers of pool films. I myself cant figure out why someone doesnt do it on the West Coast as Pat is in the East and we have a lot of great tournaments out here. Also Pat cant be everywhere and we lost a great opportunity in not being able to view Grady's straight pool/one pocket tournament. With the development of technology I think that making film of matches will become cheaper. Remember how much computers and printers cost in the 80's. Now these computer whiz kids are downloading all kinds of stuff on their laptops and selling them cheap on the internet Here's for hoping.

I just paid over $1000 American for 4 tickets to the Tuesday and Wednesday (2 each day) practice rounds at the Masters golf tourney as a gift. I really would have liked to buy 2 passes into the Thursday through Sunday of the event but I could not afford to blow over $4000 for the two passes. Tell me again how Accustats are so expensive?
