Action in the Northeast

What has happened to all the action in the New England states. I hear stories that don't date back that far. What has happened? Am I the only person that will play.

Mainplayer,

A good barometer of play in the Northeast is the Joss Tour. For years, Mike Zuglan toured all of New England. I remember playing in events from Portland, Maine to Stamford, Connecticut and everywhere in between. This year the Joss Tour has three stops in New England. That's it!!!! I believe its a combination of the new smoking laws and the terrible economy. There is some action around New York City. There is virtually none out my way. Most of our young players have moved south. Sad, but true.

Bobby Hunt (not Hunter) hangs out at Crown Billiards in New London, CT. He says he's always ready to play. His game is 1P, though. I don't know if he'll go on 9-ball, or not.

There is pretty steady action in Snookers in RI, and last time I was in Country Club in Chelmsford, MA there were people playing. Last time I was there however was probably 5 years ago, if not more.

The other room I know of with money players was in Brighton Billiards, MA, that is closed though. The players may have migrated to Boston Billiards, that had some players as well.

The action may be hiding from you. I doubt you are the only one that wants a game, but most of us small fish know to stay away.

Go to Golden Cue in Albany. There are a few "regulars" who may be able to hook you up with all the action you can muster -- by appointment, of course! :D

there is some action in CT but nothing like it was even 5 years ago. There are a few strong players that have some backers but your not going to find real big action. If you come thru looking for some $100-$500 SET 9 or 10 ball that can happen or some $50 a game 1p but anything more and you may as well keep on trucking to NYC.

maybe you need to lose some weight champ

Maybe you need to describe "north east"....if PA is included, I'm certain you can find action round here!;)

do you play 1 pocket?.....14.1? :D

I have been everywhere in the northeast and called out people in NY but nothing has happened. I was just saying it is dead up here. But if James Roberts wants to come up here he can get played.

I find it a hell of a lot easier to find a game in New England than it was in the midwest (Ohio). As mentioned, snookers has games, Boston Billiards has games, country club, some room in Lynn i was at ( i think it was called Crystal Billiards), Rennaissance Billiards, I don't really have a tough time finding action. You can track down the pro players that will play as high as you want as well.

Who did you "call out" in NY? Maybe you were looking in the wrong places...

Head down to the Joss tourney at snookers the 3rd and 4th I am sure you can find a game there

I think he won that event last year if I remember correctly.

What do you guys expect? Liljon goes up and plays Tony Ruberto and gets heisted for $17,000.00 while he is in the bathroom, and you think people want to gamble big up there?

I mean, I know this occurred in Boston, and probably it's not like that everywhere in the NE, but damn... $17,000.00! Basically, everyone in the pool hall when it happened was compliant in the heist, and no one said anything.

It speaks volumes about the area, I believe. It would be completely different if someone came in with a gun. These things happen. But for a bunch of regulars to rape a road player in this way, BAD JUJU is coming back your way.

Mmmmm mmmm... that's some tasty juju!
