Advice on removing glue when replacing irish linen

Where is the glue???...JER
Mount butt in your lathe.
Un spool old wrap by hand.
Using a new razor blade held perperdiculary scrap the wrap groove.
100/120 grit sand the groove smooth under power.
Using a new blade clean and resquare the wrap groove end.
Rewrap,press. starch and iron.
Collect $35.00 for $5.00 material and a half hours time.I'm slow LOL

Oh yeah...if it's elmers just wash it off.

Glue removal
Remove the old linen wrap and spin the butt in your lathe. Use a sharp utility knife blade held perpendicular to the spinning cue and lightly move down the handle with the blade and the glue will come right off. Be careful with the blade on each end near the finish to avoid scratching the finish. If you want it perfectly smooth you can hit the handle with some sand paper after you've removed the glue with the blade.

That's a good method James, 320 or 400 paper would be my suggestion.
