Advice on space for a table

I have a 9ft Gold Crown, I love it. It's currently in my garage, fits fine.

However I'm now going to renting a new house with my fiance. And she wants to park in the garage. So that option is out.

My question is, is there any other options I'm not thinking of for space for the table?

I live in Texas and no one has basements here unfortunately. I've been looking at houses with 3 car garages (which would fit her car and my table), but most are out of our price range or have other issues. Most houses don't have both a living room (for normal use/couch tv) and another large enough room to fit a table.

Is there any other alternative options I'm not thinking of? Maybe a large shed or something? We both work from home and live in DFW, so we are fortunate to have lots of options in locations and types of houses.

Any advice is really welcomed.

I'll survive selling the table and go back to playing at pool halls. It's just a table and she's more important to me. Just wanted to explore any other options others might have found that works for them.

Thanks

Look for a house that has a game room, or a "bonus" room. Quite a few of those around DFW. Unless your garage is insulated and air conditioned/heated, it's way too hot in Texas to use it for a pool table. At least, it is for me. I'd never use mine, if it was in the garage.

Thanks I'll keep an eye out for that/ask real estate agent.

Funny you mention garage, I actually did insulate the garage door and install AC... but it still was too hot during the day the last few months to play. Had to stick to mornings and nights.

I've been considering selling the 9ft and buying a 7ft, but it really doesn't save much space. Still need 5ft on all sides regardless of size.

I've seen a few places with these 'bonus rooms' but they have been too small. You seem like you might be familiar with DFW, any recommendations on towns/areas that might be more likely to have space? I moved here from NY so I'm not completely familiar with the whole area yet.

Either way, thanks for your thoughts! I really appreciate it

Edit: we work from home and have friends all over, so location isn't a major concern. I've been looking as far north as Little Elm, south into Waxahachie, and Fort Worth to Rowlett east of Dallas.

GROBBS - Since your wife wants to use the garage, could you look for a place that has an enclosed back or side porch - as opposed to bigger house with more 'rooms' - and use the enclosed porch to house your table in? Folks I know who have done this keep the table cover on with the porch shades up, and the shades down when shooting. Good luck to you. - GJ

Since your renting I dont think adding space via a shed may even be possible. It will also be expensive even if you can. Sounds like garage may be off limits. Good advice from others look for something with a bonus or game room. Sounds like you mentioned you are in a saturated market so I bet you can find a home with the space needed. Good luck.

Yes, I'm in the DFW area, near the airport. And that is where I would look first. Colleyville, Grapevine, Keller, Southlake, and the surrounding areas near DFW airport. If you want to move farther out, Look at Flower Mound, Lewisville, or even all the way up to Denton, or Plano.

It's hot here in the summer, and can get cold/damp in the winter. You wouldn't like playing pool in a non-insulated garage in Texas, anyway.

Also, the houses in my neighborhood sell in less than a day, and the buyers typically offer more than the asking price. The realtors often have a list of people waiting to find a house in these areas (good schools here), so if you see house you like, don't hesitate too long, or it will be gone.

How about adding a carport for the car and keeping the table in the garage?

[until you find the right house with space inside for the table]

I definitely agree you should get rid of fiancee. Most of them turn into wives eventually and then they really take up a lot of space.
