AE Schmidt case- was in their 1958 catalog.
was the exact case paul newman used in the "hustler",
not a brunswick like everyone thinks.
one of the first tooled cases i believe.
been looking for years to find one this nice.

Now that is a great piece of pool history.
 
I wonder if they built the Brunswick cases too? As you pointed out, Dr. Wu's has a Brunswick label.

By the way, his website doesn't seem to be running now...

yeah, his says brunswick. very odd.
i think it's possible his tag might not be original.
if the case was made in the early/mid 50's, they were still BBC, not just brunswick.
that logo is a later logo.
i could be wrong.

Really a nice case..i have played on their tables which are nice also.they go back a long way i believe about 1855 or so..

Being from the St. Louis area originally, I grew up playing on A.E. Schmidt tables. Great tables, especially the old commercial 4'x8's.
