Afternoon pool players in Cary / Raleigh / Durham, NC

We've checked out the Wilmington, NC area for retirement, and are now off to visit Raleigh / Cary. I'm retired, a good player who plays 5 afternoons a week, 4-6 hours a day (nice wife!).

What pool halls or bars with pool tables should I visit during our quick stop in Cary.? I drive 45 minutes to play pool on some days in Phoenix, but would be happy to decrease that commute time.

In Cary look up Bucks Billiards. Haven't been there in quite some time, but its a fairly nice place with pretty good food, and plenty of tables. Noy sure of the table conditions anymore, but they use to be ok.

If you are looking for action, travel to Brass Tap in Raleigh, which is only 20-25 mins from Bucks. Lots of day time players and you can always find action, and the tables are the best in the area IMO.

On The Snap in Farquay Varina (probably spelled that wrong) 10 Diamond Pro/Am 9' tables about 10 minutes from Cary.

Hot Shots is not bad either. 10 or 11 Gold Crowns with drop pockets. It's right on 64 MacGregor plaza.

Unless things have changed, you can usually find action at Brown's Billiards as well.

Hope you decide to make the area your home. I'm not able to get out much during the week, but let me know if/when you move. Buck's is probably best choice for the immediate Cary area. Good layout with GC-IV's in decent condition. Usually a nice crowd of decent players in the afternoons. Another choice in Cary is High House Billiards. Not sure about the afternoon attendance. Nice GC-V's but I'm not too keen on the layout - too many table for the size room in my estimation. On the Snap, about a 15-20 minute drive from Cary, has Diamond tables.

We're here - relocated to the Brier Creek, Raleigh area and looking to find afternoon pool players. Nine ball, eight ball or scotch doubles are my preferences, but open to anything.

PM or email me so that I can get back to my regular schedule of 5 afternoons a week of pool playing - the wife is sick of me!

Go to the brass tap and see if you can hook up with Andy Toth who just moved down from PA. He is probably in there during the day. Play well!
