Aiming Fundamentals

Actually, in order to pick out the spot on the rail for the mirror image, the pic is not aligned for me to see the angle. Capish?

Best,

Whenever I read about using any part of the OB directly to aim with ie. this part of the CB lines up with this part of the OB, I think of this shot. Rail first into the 8 ball.

So, what aiming fundamental do you use on this type of shot?

Ghost ball to a ghost table ? :D

Imagine the GB contacting the 8 ball sending it into the center of the pocket.
Put your thumb on the point where the center of the GB would rest. Take your index finger and touch the nose of the rail perpendicular to the GB. Move you thumb and index finger to the side until the thumb now rests on the nose of the rail and you index finger will now be the aiming point atop the rail or 'wood' beside it (mirror).

I believe that the CB will tend to hug the rail a bit (swerve?) after contacting it and this needs to enter the equation but this will get you close for starters.

Or do you put your index finger 1.125" in front of the nose of the rail for the center of the CB is when it contacts the nose of the rail?
I'll have to try that as well.

Line up using pro-one and jump the eight straight in.

Now without moving the cue side-to-side, slide into the shot placing the bridge hand under the cue. (That takes practice.) You are now in shot alignment.

Tell us more? Are you holding the cue rigid in place then sliding forward under it with the bridge hand? Much better would be to have your feet the correct distance pre-stance so there is no "lock and slide".

Thanks.
