I couldn't beleive my eye's this time. I must be dreaming I have these for 6 months. Gold Crown 4's in great shape some have rolls most don't and one only a few feet from my door.

I was in the Air Force form 72-76. They had great Brunswick tables at Malmstrom AFB (Great Falls, MT). The Air Force takes care of their troops!
That place looks awesome!! When I was stationed in Nebraska, we had 4 GC's. That was back in 1988. They were new, and I didn't know anything about pool. Wait I still don't!! You figure out which GC's they were. I wish they had rec centers like this when I was in. I may have had to stay in!!
There's always a catch, does the Air Force have a department of pool table maintenance, I could sign on for that.

I agree what an awesome setup. Hard to believe all of those dorks sitting around on their laptop computers when all of those great open available tables are awaiting them. More proof that the youth of today can not be counted on to carry on the pool traditions of years past. There lazy asses would rather sit on the computer or cell phone in all their spare time, pathetic if you ask me.

In some places the Air Force rec centers get a great budget and they try their best to spend it on good equipment. I remember once when I was working at the rec center at Tinker Air Force Base they had two tables and a storeroom with 60 sets of Aramith Balls and like 40 boxes of cone chalk.
At my barracks in Schwaebisch Hall Germany we had a Gold Crown 2 in the basement. That is the table I ran 98 balls on.

Alright...When you were blabbing about the 'kids these days' in the other thread (quoted above), I thought it was just a mindless rant, from a guy that got beat by a kid wearing a blutooth. But now, I see this goes much deeper. What is your issue with my generation? When I go to a pool hall, I see 85% between 18-30, and 15% people older than 35. I take this offensively, seeing as you are throwing direct attacks to people my age. I find more people playing pool in my generation than there are 'older' people. Things are a lot more modern these days...kids, do have it quite a bit easier than generation x/y. But we also had to learn about calculus, trig, physics/chemistry and other college level courses. We have had our heads full with learning tough shit and doing well to get into college, that we can't find hobbies that take a lot of time doing. We resort to shorter leisure activities that don't require an ungodly amount of time to master. When I was in HS/college, my head was spinning with all the shit that I had to learn. Now that I am out of college and can enjoy this game more, I love it and respect it even more. I am REALLY tired of hearing about how, 'kids these days' are lazy. Laziness is a perception of one being.
Pool is one of the few things left that doesn't require a computer to take care of the dirty work. Never forget that. I find it more beneficial that 'kids these days' are going to school to build the computers, formulate the genetic algormithms, and create programs to run everything in this world. I find your thoughts bitter and conjecturing. Please refrain from making these flagrant assumptions about my generation.

Please don't take this the wrong way. I'm in no way trying to start a war of words with you.
I'm not sure exactly where you are playing that has a ratio like that, but for the most part in my area, I would say that we have more players over the age of 30 then of those that are under. Of all of the players, I would say that 90% of the better players are all over the age of 30. Yes, there are a few good players that are under 30, but they're all over 25. I'm not saying that there aren't players out there under 25 that are great, but those instances are rare. Not non-existing, just rare.
There are a lot of players that are under 30 that come into pool rooms to play, but are they serious players or are they just there to have a beer and a good time with friends? In my limited experience, most of them are just people that think they know how to play pool because they can make a couple of balls in a row.
Oh and this old fart (39) also took, Trig, Calculus, Physics, and other college prep courses in high school. They've been offered for quite a while. It's not something they just started doing.
Like I said this is not a personal attack on you, it's just a general observation on my part. Very easily could I be wrong. I haven't visited every pool room in the states.

They have had it right for years. I just wish that someone would have rattled that home in my head and somehow forced my to switch from ARMY to Air force. My nephew is having to stay in a five star hotel over seas because the army unit he is attached to has sleeping arrangements that are not up to Air Force standards.
