Albrecht Custom Cues

Im buying a Albrecht Custom, and I wanted to know what you guy's think...

The purpose for a new cue is that I wanted to try a slightly longer cue (60") and I want a serious player with good balance and feel, after searching and talking to various cue makers I decided to go with a Albrecht, Very reasonably priced for such a well build and good looking cue, IMHO I havent recieved the cue yet but I plan on putting it through its paces.

You won't go wrong with getting a cue from Dave. My opinion will be seen as baised as I own one and have some more in the making. The cue hit is crisp (not stiff, not whimpy), Balance is forward (that's how I wanted it), and Finish was great. A lot of cue for the money. Hope you'll like yours.

Dave does seem to know alot about cues, when I was ranting about cues and how I wanted a cue that played the way I thought it should, Dave was the only Cue Maker that actualy seemed to know what I wanted, From a players perspective that means alot.


What really sold me was when I was reading about Dave on his web site and him talking about how he feels a cue should hit, thats exactly what I prefere, This made my decision alot easier.

Thanks, you know I may talk to Dave about getting a Leather Wrap installed later on, but I want to try the Cork wrap, Dave says it feels really good, so Im going to try it, I do think a Solid Black leather wrap would really set this cue off..

i never liked a leather wrap, until the last cue I bought to play with, I have been a courtland linen guy for yearsw and still am, but on this cue itwould look stupid, the leather looks good and its the first leather wrap I could stand, so never say never, get what you like they are eay to change. thats one hell of a players cue,

I have held that cue before and the cork looks and feels really nice. You will be happy for sure. Dave is a super nice guy and a heck of a pool player if I might add. He does an awesome job with leather wraps (he installed one for me and it was flawless) but I agree with Fatboy on this one. Keep the cork.

Im thinking maybe just getting you to change it, he said you know it is confortable you should try it first. considering I play for hours at a time, the cork wrap may be perfect, Im just concerned on how to maintain and keep it clean?

Im a clean freak when it comes to my cues, I often clean the cue before and after I play, this was my main concern when I was thinking of the cork.

Any suggestions on keeping it clean?

I am sure that Dave can give you the best advice on keeping it clean or cleaning it. I am not that familiar with the cork wraps but I did see and feel the one that you bought and it is nice. I think you will like it. Just ask Dave and I am sure he would answer any questions you have about it.

I never expected to get a cue as nice as this one, the cork wrap is great! its really smoothe and silky, but has a good grip... weird... but good, GREAT actualy. the finish is perfect, the joint is flush, the shaft is snow white, and I love the taper, Im off to the pool hall, I'll be back!

Fast Lenny, I just dont understand, I have played with alot of cues in my day, you know, and this cue absolutely blew me away. I did have some trouble adjusting, whitch I think was the tip. Its a layered H2 Hurcules, pretty hard, the hit is medium, not to stiff, and not whippy at all. Id say a Schon with a Schon tip, after about a week of play, it hits a tad bit harder. With better feel and balance. but the power is ten times as great, and that what has me confused Let me explain..


When I shoot soft it feels great, solid, generous amounts of spin, but when I add some power, it feels the same as any other cue, but it Launches the cue ball, I spent about an hour just looping the cue ball around...lol I was like a little kid, I must say I still cant wipe the smile off my face, BUT BANGERS beware, this cue should come with a warning, you add to much power im telling you those balls cant take it, they will take orbit, I hit a ball with what I call medium hard with my Schuler and damn near killed the counter person...lol Daves break cues are proboly illegal in 50 states, Wow....

I have never held a cue that I knew had such power, full table length draw shots, force follow, man... and I tell ya what, my toughest opponet came in, and right off before I really had any time to adjust, said wanna play Banks? well six games later he quit. Then I play 9 bal.. win 8 straight and this guy quits, I ended up playing a young kid whom Im teaching, well he beat me a little , be even this young kid was amazed at what I was doing, and how I was doing it.

I have hit with one cue once, that had me gooo goooing like this, and I could never afford to own one, Im not going to say who's cue because youd never believe me...

If I had to say well is it perfect? well, one point is slightly longer, so no not perfect, and to be honest if it was perfect I wouldnt shoot with it, the way this cue plays if it were perfect, it belongs in the hands of the current world champion not mine.. so it worked out ok...

Im sorry for rambling on and on, Every person has thier opinion, This is mine, and how I feel about my new cue, if your experiance is any differnt send it to me, Albrecht cues to me is the best in the world, and I dont take that lightly, Dave isnt paying me, I paid him, if there is a better cue out there, I couldnt afford it anyways.

I am glad to hear the cue plays so great,i havent had the chance to hit with an Albrecht but if i bump into Dave again i will certainly ask him to take it for a joy ride.See this is the thing that gets me,alot of people pay 3 times or more money for a cue that has 1/2 the bite.I would like to see Dave put his cue in a good players hands and get his name out there,the same with Sirca,they make such nice cues at such mindblowing prices.I certainly would like to get a cue with cork like the one you got,cork is nice.I always liked the Hercules tips also when i couldnt get a Moori.

This new cuemakers are changing the landscape in terms of bang for the buck.

I have a few Albrecht on order and waiting for Greg to come up with something that I can grab. There are a couple more cuemakers that I'm working with to get a good playing cue. I don't mind small issues (cosmetic) as long as it doesn't affect play. So far, I've been lucky to get a really good players cue for good money.
