Albuquerque Room Closes

I played on that table too, and it was pretty crappy.

John, did they happen to steer you to the Palomino Club? They did me, and I was about 3 weeks healing from it. I fancied myslef a pretty good scrapper in those days, but that night mt big problem was that I wasn't the sprinter I used to be.

No, but we did go to a bar called the Cowboy, where Jimmy Moore ran a weekly 9 ball tournament. It was a $10 entry fee & I beat Louie Roybal to win it & got about $150. I was not much of a bar pool player, but it was a short race single elimination tournament and quite a few players from the Corner Pocket were there. C.J. Wiley was there but didn't play in the tournament. he had just won a big 8 ball tournament in Florida.

We didn't make much $$ in Alb., & when I got our money back playing golf, we headed for Colorado. I had Wilford giving me the 7 in 9 ball and Louie giving me a ball in one pocket playing cheap, but they both pulled up before we could bet anything. We were about 3 weeks behind Jerry Watson from Canada and he must have touched them a little bit, because they were careful with strangers. John
