i'm not on ebay as much as some of you, so i don't know all the things to look for like you guys do.

what red flag goes up on this listing??? are the pictures ripped off? or what tipped you off?

VAP

Hmmm

I am not sure if this is a scam or not...they guy did buy a brunswick cue it appears as his first transaction. Also note, the 25th is the date on the pictures...meaning he could of took them last night after midnight. Notice the time also which makes sense.

I would definately contact him via email and then phone though before placing a bid on them, otherwise it seems to be a nice setup.

Shorty

Doesn't look like a scam to me. What makes you say that it is? Maybe there is something I should look for and am not. Thanks.

I Said It Before

Well Don't Hear Me We Will See What Happens I Said Somthing About Another Cue On Ebay And People Said They Didn't Think It Was A Scam And Guess What Bingo It Was. The Redflag Is Buying And Selling Ebook Type Items To Build Your Feedback Up So That When People Look At Your Auction You Have Some Positive Feedback You Will See!!!

There are a couple of different things to look for when trying to identify a scam. Always check out the seller's transaction history. Has he bought/sold similar items. In other words, is this guy selling cookware and office supplies and all of a sudden, a Balabushka or Szamboti. Secondly, look at his positive/negative feedback percentage. Look at the item description. Any seller worth his/her slat will include a detailed description of the cue to accompany the pictures. If it still seems a little fishy, ask the seller questions. Ask for better pictures. If he or she can't supply them, they just might not have the item to begin with. If they don't know the details of the item, walk away. Finally, if you're still suspicious at all, you shouldn't be spending your money on it.

OPR, I wasn't arguing with your feeling. Just trying to understand where it came from. I agree that selling a high priced item, with a low price feedback history is a flag. On the other hand, when I started on ebay, it was with small stuff to get my feet wet and then moved up to bigger (more $$) items as I got comfortable.

It will be interesting to see if you are right. I'm watchin' it! Thanks. :)

no evidence of a hijacked identity either (large gaps from last transaction is a good indicator) ,,scammers usually try an inactive account, because that person is least likely to catch someone using his/her account,,,if o-p-rocket can't recall where he saw the alleged photos before,,,I'll sit this one out, too !

I think the best way to find out if it is a scam is have him email you some different pics. Have him date stamp them also. If he truly wants to sell his high end items and you explain why you want this done,it should not be a problem. Unless of course it is a scam. If he will not do it then screw em, DO NOT BID. Simple.

ebay is really getting worst then better I think I have never seen so many scams then lately and now I make it a daily routine to see if i'm selling anything myself. :(

Not all first time sellers are bad

Not all first time sellers are bad, i just put 3 cue's for sale a few days ago. I have 0 feedbacks so far, hopefully it wont hurt me too bad. If anyone knows of a new player looking for a cheap, name brand cue, I have a Joss with a $75 reserve (only used about 4-5 times).

I asked the seller for pictures and he sent me 3. None of the pictures are dated and he said in his email that he couldnt send me any new ones cause he was not near his photo equipment. Soooo... I dont know what to tell ya... I dont have the money to buy that cue anyway. If i did, it would go into a Scruggs.

This is what the seller has to say. I believe him. He also sent me new pics that were dated today.

I appreciate your concern and I did go and register on the site...which seems to be a great site by the way.....I have went through all the motions of activation but evidently the administrator has not passed it yet and cannot respond....I can assure you this is a legit auction and I thank you for your confidence....enclosed is a couple of new pics including a shot of the butt part of the Joss that confirms the year period of manufacture and a shot of the three in the auction in their cases AND a McDermott and a Mali that will be the fourth cue the winner can choose if the auction goes over $1800....
I have been looking for what sells good on ebay and have tried several different things....I even sold an expensive Les Paul Gibson Guitar and a Fender tube type amp on eBay....as it turns out cue sticks are HOT and these are in my private collection (just started a business and selling some personal things to raise some capital) but am going to pursue a sideline of location and sale of rare pool cues...
Thanks again for your contacting me...

If this is true then why when the other az person ask for more pics he sent him 3 and then told him he could not send anymore becuse he didn't have his camera? kinda funny since the photos where had a date on them of the 25th of this month where did his camera go???? Also undefined VONN31 I POSTED ANOTHER EBAY SCAM AWHILE BACK AND YOU SAID THE SAME THING LOOKS GOOD TO YOU AND YOU WHERE WRONG!!! The funny thing is im trying to help out fellow AZ people but i will not post another SCAM!!!! SO AFTER SOMEONE BUY'S THIS ITEM YOU WILL SEE AND PAYPAL IS FAR FAR FROM SAFE THEY ALSO HIGHJACK PAYPAL ACCOUNTS TO!

My pictures are dated the 26th NOT the 25th. The times on the pics are 10:20am 11:03am and 1:11pm. Does this match the other persons?

The seller had since sent me 2 more emails with new pictures. IMHO I dont think it is a scam. It is still a good thing that everyone here on AZB are looking out for eachothers best interest when reporting scams. Thank you for looking out Onepocket...
