how would you rank em at the moment in 10 ball only playing for cash?
how would you rank em if it was a 10 ball/one pocket set?

10 ball i'm ranking as follows
Shane
Alex
Dennis

10 ball and one pocket combined
Alex
Shane
Dennis
 
In 3 cushion billiards I know a guy born in 1937 who I would bet on to beat any of those guys. In fact they would all ask for weight.

Yep, except Raymond Ceulemans only plays carom games. The lesson which a lot of pool players haven't learned is stick with your best game. One of the players you mentioned just won a nice sum of money and will give it all back in poker against people who can't make a straight in shot in pool.

Figure out what you are good at and stick with it.
 
Alex shoots better 10-ball post-break than SVB from what I have seen in their match ups. He plays better safeties, kicks and banks better, and runs the balls better than SVB. He played better post-break in the last race to 100 against SVB on the Fatboy rails. The problem Alex has is he is not nearly as good a breaker as SVB and he cannot answer the packages SVB can put out there.

Alex led both day 1 and day 2 in that Fatboy match right to the end when SVB snapped off large packages to catch up and win the day.

Dennis has the same issue. He shoots better than SVB post-break but he cannot keep up with SVB packages. His match of 8-ball with SVB was a clear show of the SVB break advantage. Dennis shot 100% accusat, never missed a shot, never played safe, he ran out every time he stepped up to the table. He lost control of the table on breaks and SVB won that match despite missing a few shots in it.
 
So good.

Those guys are so good that any one of them can beat any one on any given day. They won't play against each other enough in my life time for me to reach a for certain opinion on who is the best. Do they gamble with their own money?

I like SVB's game, but he has to beat them for me to believe he can, based on factors that come into play, not just the break.

We would all like to see them play until someone could brag about winning the most, it would be great for Pool, but as you said it wont happen.

Maybe some new kid on the block will come along and challenge them all!!

I feel that if the list stipulated playing for their OWN cash...only Alex and Shane should
be considered.

What I would like to see is an all-round of the classic games....
...straight pool, snooker, and three cushion.
This opens up the field somewhat.

I'd have thrown appleton in there but have no knowledge of him playing money sets
