Alex & SVB Score Thread

The Board screwed up there for a while... repeated updates & blackouts.
Whats the score ???
.

Any update on the score? I know JohnnyT called me a nit for not buying the feed but I'd still like to know the score.

You didn't follow up on this..

Sorry. As you probably know, AZ was down for a little while (at least for me). Alex ran out and missed a straight in 10-ball. Jk. He won that game , but I think Shane won the next one, to make it a night at 70-63 Shane!

Yeah, I don't understand why someone is a nit because they do not want to spend $25 for whatever reason...

Nothing wrong with asking what the score is.. Even if you didn't pay to watch it..

Personally being called a nit or denied information of the score just because a person didn't want to pay to watch it definitely makes me less interested in the whole thing..

But that's just me..

Not saying anything bad about anyone.. Don't take it that way..

thats good of shane to keep the score close for the sake of TAR. Help them sell tickets for day 3. Compared to his TAR matches with Cory and strickland a 10 game lead coming down the stretch would be a nail-biter!

Actually, it's the other way around. Alex is giving Shane a 22 game headstart so it wouldn't turn into a rout...

Thnx rossaroni for the heads up! Rep coming your way!

Honestly I think that TAR should be providing the score on AZ. It would definitely motivate people to go and get the feed IF they could. It would eliminate all the griping about NITS and so on if TAR would just make an "official score" thread for each of these and they would commit to updating it.

In my eyes it's like this - the main bulk of TAR's customers and potential customers come from AZ Land - no doubt about it. TAR advertises here and posts updates on when things will get going, the health of the feed and so on. So keep the people who didn't buy the feed, who are new to the board, who can't buy the feed, who are on the fence about it, and so on, interested. Give them a little taste and get them to go in the tent.

It should be TAR that does this so we don't have to get the guilt trip every time. Lots of us DONATE to TAR already buy purchasing PPV that WE KNOW are going to be spotty at best.

It shouldn't be up to the fans to provide the score. THANK YOU fans who do. I jsut feel that an official TAR score thread with a simple CLICK HERE to buy the PAY PER VIEW button would be great. I guarantee you that TAR would get mnore viewers this way through impulse buyers.

But as is is you have a lot of people watching a score thread that is updated sporadically by fans and others laying on a guilt trip and hardly any mention of HOW to VIEW the match being talked about. You should never assume that your potential customer knows about you.

After 15 years I still find good players who don't know the Instroke brand. Everyone who walked into my booth was treated as if they never heard of my cases until they indicated otherwise. I firmly believe that this respect for the customer translated into lots of sales I might not have had if I had simply assumed that the customer should already know why they should buy my product.

I am sure that Justin and Chad have a full plate so this is offered as a marketing suggestion to them - it should not be taken as accusing them of neglecting their customers and potential customers. I think though that there is a bit of a TAR clique forming and that would be unfortunate if people were treated as if they were ignorant if they don't know the inside of the TAR world. Remember we all want pool to grow and succeed and the more people we bring to the party the better it will be.

John Barton - A free update nit this time. :-)

Anyone watching the online game through TAR.... For me ts just a black screen showing connected.... and the chat box is connected aswelll...

I went to bed at mid night CST. Anybody know what time the match ended for the night?

After the match when Justin can they post a run down of what happened the night before. On their site and on AZ. It is a 2 man operation virtually so lets not expect things out of them over and what they are doing now. Its not their job really to post info about what is actually going on. Thats why we have journalism and media to do it for us.
Its not the job of the Director or Producers to tell you the outcome of their movie its the film reviewer. Its not the job of the Chef or Restaurant owner to tell you how the food tastes its the restaurant critic.
I think AZ billiiards and other billiard news sites chould have a reporter there giving you the running score. Like Atlas who is balancing the world on his shoulders dont expect him to come to your house and fix your personal problems. TAR's enormous task is to provide their customers with a decent feed to their games which is in this early stages a really tough job not to mention producing these great matches. I believe recognition of this great service is the first thing we should be talking about. I thank the fellow AZers who are filling in the gaps by providing updates and info.

It begs the question, and I will ask it. :)

So what time will the third leg of this match-up take place?

I agree and disagree. No one is NOT recognizing the great service TAR is providing. I merely made a suggestion as to how to appeal to MORE customers and to stop the endless guilt tripping when people are jonesing for information about what's going on.

I guarantee you that the smaller the production the more "jobs" a person has to take on. This is the way it is in the world.

It's totally fair to offer advice or even "expectation" when a company is offering a product. The company can choose to to ignore such requests, address them, implement them, or explain why such requests are not feasible. That's up to them. I am sure that smart companies welcome any and all customer suggestions no matter how stupid because they don't know where the next idea will come from that works.

John, there's only one or two posters on this forum who are trying to do the "guilt tripping," but it ain't JCIN or Bignasty.

I think we are all very appreciative of what they are doing for the sport. For diehard pool sweaters like me, it is a godsend.

Unfortunately, with the time differences, it is difficult for me to sweat any of the Vegas matches.

Also, I refuse to get PayPal. I used to have it when it first came out. In fact, I had something called X.com many years ago for Internet payment which eventually got sold to PayPal I think.

The reason I do not have PayPal is a personal one, though on this forum there are some who say those who don't have it are "cheap." This is a bullying tactic, but the ones who are bullying are not the TAR admin staff.

I don't want PayPal. I will never get PayPal. I think PayPal sucks. If I have to use PayPal, then my brother sometimes will use his PayPal and buy things for me, like on eBay. I understand that you can use a bank debit card and/or a credit card on TAR, and you do not have to use PayPal. I don't give out my credit card info on the Internet because of a bad experience I encountered using my credit card at a pool event in New England. Fortunately, my credit card company caught it.

In sum, there are reasons people may elect to not use their credit card and/or not have a PayPal account. It does not mean they are not supportive of TAR. It does not mean that those who do not purchase TAR in Vegas are cheap. [End of rant]

I agree Jennie. Hell, i'd be happy to pay for just the chat if it were possible just to keep up with the action.

I KNOW that Justin and Chad aren't asking for charity or guilt tripping those who don't buy the feed.

I jsut get a little edgy when people start labeling others as "cheap" or "nits" when they don't buy the feeds. I guess it doens't occur to them that people might have lives that aren't conducive to staying up all night long through the morning sweating pool online.

I will tell you why I didn't buy the feed this time. I spent this weekend neglecting my lovely wife to attempt to watch the Frost/Appleton match. Out of two days of PPV I had ONE hour of good video and audio. But I had no chat during that time because it wouldn't come up. Then the video died and basically gave me three seconds of motion every 30 minutes or so. So I said no more until I am in the States and can see if it's just a China thing.

On top of that I don't want to sit and watch pool online while my people are working - it's a bad example. So I elected NOT to spend the $25 on TAR this time.

However I did give Accu-Stats $6 for the Archer/Louie Roberts match and I am looking forward to watching that and hope it will stream well since it's also on Audio Video Web.

And - when I win $100 from Corvette after Alex runs two 25 packs I will probably spend it all on TAR/Accu Stats and pool stuff. :-)

63-42. Good break for Alex. I might have to turn off the volume now, cause Mr. Helfert is in the booth! :p
I hope you didn't do that. That's the first time I've worked with Jay and he didn't disappoint!

My normal partner Ken Schuman went to bed at this point and asked me if I was going to stay for the whole thing and I told him that since it probably wasn't going much longer, I would. He'll never believe how great this set turned out!!!
