in shorter races fedor is the best right now. in a marathon race i'm not so sure. alex is the de facto top dog, but on the other hand he hasn't played many big matches lately. either way, interesting match, i will definitely watch it

It started from a Window's Open interview with Alex where the question was asked if he wanted to play some 1 pocket to which he basically said yeah and that nobody is barred. Then not long after that posted Fedor challenged him. I know who I wanna bet on with everything being equal. But I wanna hear the details first the when, the where, the equipment specs and race length etc. Popcorn is ready...

I think I like Fedor in this. Alex 20 years ago couldn't beat Efren. He didn't have that magic touch Efren did. Now the roles are reversed, Fedor is the young and straight shooter, and Alex is the older and wiser player. The question is, did Alex gain a lot of magic in one hole over the years to become the modern Efren equivalent?

sure he did, noone has beaten him in well over a decade. but is he the same player he was 5 years ago? he's been using glasses on and off, he's a little jumpier, hasn't played a big set since chohan 2-3 years ago.. there are questions.

Alex is going to have to bring up his game…I told him giving TRex 8-7 was going to burn his action....and I think his game surpassed Efren.
He been playing snooker and Chinese 8-ball a way too much.

i think so too. prime alex ran 8 and out more frequently than efren, and had better cue ball. but how close he is to that game now is hard for me to gauge, you would know better. i suspect his moving game is unchanged.

From what I've seen Alex is playing good again, at or near his best. He was in a long slump for two to three years where his game had slipped considerably. I think he may have been spending too much time trying to learn Chinese Eight Ball. Now he's back focused on Pool and that's very cool. Can he still bring it in his forties like he did in in his twenties and thirties remains to be seen? Maybe his last hurrah.

Meanwhile the Filipino greats never seem to age. Francisco is over 60 now and still killing 'em! Of course how many times did we write Efren off and he came back and won again. By comparison Alex is a young gun!

I think youth and far superior firepower wins this deal. Alex would have to use up his whole bag of moves to hold off the ballmaking barrage of Fedor. Be cool to sweat for sure.

I felt the same about the 2 exhibition matches this week. Sure in odd circumstances the old guard may know what to do, but the raw pocketing ability and CB control of current world class players is on another level. Leave any sort of opening and they're out...
