That's a beautiful gesture. I hope to one day read it as well. Kudos to Vagabond and the good people on this forum.

Good on you, Vagabond, you da man.

Hey Willie, can I pay you to make a copy for me? Maybe scan it to a PDF file and pass it on to the other AZB'ers? (don't ruin the book, just lay it on the scanner) Besides cash, I'd be willing to kick in my first born or possibly a left body part

Eric

I used to fix copiers. There are some that will allow you to place the book on the scanner and the copier will automatically delete the black line made by the air gap in the middle of the pages. Konica has it; I sure others do, too. Ask at a good copy shop for help.

Bud Green just gave me one of his copies of Do It For The Game.

For all the negativity going on lately, it sure is nice to have people like vagabond & bud to restore one's faith in good people. ;)
Check my thread in Deno's forum for my nomination for another good person here at AZB.

Eric,
No can do. This book has what is referred to as a "tight binding" - very thick book, poorly glued pages. If you would open it even to 90 degrees you would start to lose pages. If you copied it you would destroy it. It is not in great condition, but I won't do anything that would worsen it in any way!!!!!

Then can you start reading it aloud and putting it on a CD like "Books On Tape" so I can listen to it in bed like a bedtime story and I can fall asleep to your Daddy like voice and dream of Buddy ripping balls in as the Rifleman and cleaning house on all bets?

And still another nomination... Freddy the beard. Thanks Freddy! ;) Sure is nice finding all these good people in the midst of some others that'll remain unmentioned! :)

Food for thought:

if you go to Staples.com and search for " text scanner " there are some nifty pen type scanners that will hold about 1000 pages worth.

Just a thought for guys with rare books that others are interested in seeing, but too risky to lend out.

Good idea. Or go the "spy" route and take a digital picture of each page.

I like the books on tape idea if we can get someone like Freddie the B. to do them. I remember Buddy Hall telling the Beard his voice came over great on the Johnny Ervolino vs Moke Sigel one pocket match and I have to agree.

We'd probably get M. Laurence instead, though.
