Allan McCarty of Predator has died

It is with deep sadness that we announce that Allan McCarty, the founder of Predator Cues, passed away after a long illness on September 13th, 2023.​

Allan was the cofounder of Clawson Cues along with Steve Titus. That company eventually became Predator.

It was Allan who arranged for me and some other pool physics fanatics to do the Jacksonville Project/Experiment at Clawson's headquarters in Jacksonville in 1998. I had many discussions with him. I will miss him.

I still have the tape with the hand written notes.
 
An old friend since the 70s…..sorry to see him go..…..we learned a lot off each other about cues.
 
Sad news. I had a wonderful discussion with Alan the first time I decided to try a Predator shaft. He actually convinced me to try because he was smart enough to know that it doesn’t help everyone. That was the selling point that made me try. The sales folks that try to tell you it helps everyone, I have no time for. Alan got a sale from me and then some, even though in the end, I don’t shoot with Predator shaft (aside from my break cue).
 
Truly a sad day in the pool playing world - Alan was a really great guy and a great promotor of the concept of low deflection shafts. He and Steve Titus had a unique concept and made it happen.
