Allison Fisher won her first match against Allen Hopkins.

Strickland is an ass already - loudly complaining that the women should not even have a spot in the IPT.

He plays Gerda Hoffstatter at 3pm. I hope she drills him. Maybe he will quit the IPT right there.

Wearing his 'Snowman' outfit while shooting. I think we
need to rename him to Earl "Big Glove' Strickland.... lol

Thanks for the update, kinda sad to here Alan lost:( the amazing thing is we are getting this info from AzBilliards and not the IPT site, there is more info about day one on Az's main page then the IPT site, what's up with that? I'm very disappointed so far with the IPT site.

AzBilliards is on top of things, probably have the results posted before the IPT site:D

Thanks to everyone here, keep the info coming in:)

You would think with the kind of money thrown into this event, live scoring would be a given. I look for them to improve on that area. It's small, but it makes a world of difference to those of us who aren't lucky enough to see the action live.

someone explain the 'round' format to me? Do the best records after so many matches go on? Do you play everyone in your bracket?

rounds ..

In the first round, groups of 6, everyone plays everyone
in a race to 8 games of 8 ball. When completed, the top
3 players move on to the 2nd round. The score they have
from the scoresheet (the big box on far right) determines
who has the best record, lowest being the best.

This is similiar to how they run our state tournament each year. What it lends to is peope with low integrity cheating. If someone has a spot locked up, say they are 7-0, then they let their buddy win the last match to help him gain a spot. Or if someone is 5-2 and needing a win then they also cut a deal to get the last match victory. How is the IPT going to stop this from happening?

Technically they can't stop it but I remember reading that stats like games & matches lost will count against a player in their overall ranking.

Therefore, unless they have a spot in the top 50 on lock, they wouldn't want to risk giving up any matches because they could have to play qualifiers to regain their tour card as a result.

Exactly Right

You are exactly right, watches. Round Robin tourneys invite, "Business", more than any other type. Been there, done that. Believe me.

This is right. No player will really know until the very end where they stand because every game counts. This will probably be the most effective weapon against any collusion between player to fix any outcomes. As well, any player caught will be immediately barred from the tour. So the punishment is pretty severe. Honestly, there is so much money there I think the players will all be playing to win and leave nothing to chance. I would hate to be the player that dumped a match and missed the cut by one game because I miscalculated.

Yeah, I agree, I don't think, at least this year you'll see any of that at all, you risk the chance the friend beats you next round plus the stats like games lost index mean way too much to these players. This is going to be serious competition and everyone is going to be trying to lead in certain categories, like GLI or Break and Run...etc.

I don't see it happening, I know I wouldn't let a game slide for anyone, I would want to be ranked high on the GLI list, or total wins etc.

It's all going to count when it comes to marketing and promotion.

Oh so then it won't happen later in the year when a player is locked up in the top 50?? Maybe a player is ranked 12th and their best friend is 55th. Wouldnt it be nice to have that person beat you 8-0 to have them have a better chance of moving into the top 50 and retaining their tour card.

Or just wait til Earl Strickland is 3-2 in match play with say a .590 winning percentage & he sees another player that is 2-2 going into his last match and winds up 3-2 with a .600 winning percentage after beating 'player X' 8-0. Earl will throw a fit, everyone will throw a fit, and chaos will ensue once more.

Good luck to the IPT.

John,
I am not just saying this to have something to argue with you about but your comment is not valid. Money & reputation have little to do with it. A perfect example is American's favorite pasttime-baseball. Sosa hit, what 60 home runs 3 years in a row, had his place in history cemented, made more per game than any pool player will this year and then was found using a corked bat. Palmeiro goes before Congress, states I don't do steroids, has 500 home runs & his place in the Hall of Fame & much more than any pool player could dream of in marketing money, and he uses steroids again. And you expect better from a pool player & some of the IPT player names on the list that I see.

I have said it before...you can teach someone how to draw their ball but you can't teach them not to cheat (or lie or steal).

Have a little faith ...

In mankind and our Pros. I wouldn't cheat for any kind of
money, and I think the players will be more concerned with
how they are doing rather than a buddy, after all, that buddy
can play too. Baseball had been lax for years, so it should have
not been a big surprise. And besides, with Deno being tour director,
I am sure that he has and is covering any bases such as that.

Sometimes, it is almost like some of you guys will be sitting here
2 years from now saying, 'Aw man, the IPt could have failed so
many times, why didn't they?'

Scott - Seeing the glass half full and getting fuller

Allison

Allison beat Neils Feijin despite hardly making a ball from the break.

Raj Hundall then beat her 8-4.

Allison looks as cool and smooth as anyone here!

Scott...very admirable that you wouldn't cheat. Can you say that for all the players on the list? Let us think back to the original....I deleted the name of the tournament. I don't want to call anyone out in particular. Let's just say it was a 'well deserved victory'

Who is Deno? Does he have a full name? Just curious on who this magistrate is and how he is going to lay down the law.

Well, I have to agree with you here.
