Just wanted to share some pictures of a cue I am having built. Over a year ago I was speaking with a relatively unknown builder over on easypooltutor.com and come to find out he was active duty Air Force on his way over to the desert. Being ex-AF myself I decided that I would like to have him build me a nice plain cue out of my favorite wood, so when he returned a couple of months ago I put him to work.
I just received these pictures and I can't tell you how happy I am. The color combos are perfect. He uses exotic materials for the buttcap(Water buffalo horn) and joint(mineralized bone), which I am told by some of his current customers, produce an incredible feel. I haven't hit with it yet because it is not quite done but I will post results when I receive it. I hope you enjoy the pics.
In the batch picture mine is the top cue.

Thanks,
Koop

Keep talking about him like this and I guess he'll remain unknown.

Hey JimBo,

Say what's on your mind man!

Koop

My mind is very basic, What's his name, and why wouldn't you post it??? Are you trying to keep him a secret? :-P I really just didn't get why your post didn't have his name in it.

JB

I like the combination of the bocote figure, color, and bone joint. Very, very nice.

This is a prime example of a cue that should not be inlayed. Inlays would just break up the natural pattern of the wood and get lost.

There is definitely something to be said for plane-janes where a nicely figured exotic wood is featured! Great cue. I hope it hits as well as it looks!

JimBo,

I understood your question. I just don't know why you feel the need to be a cryptic wiseass which is why I answered in tune.
The reason I didn't post his name yet is because I know he is going to be moving soon and wasn't sure he wanted his info out there yet.
He currently lives in Alaska and will be moving to New Mexico soon because his wife is still active duty AF. He asked me to hold off on divulging personal info until after the move plus he has a website in the works.
The best way to contact him right now is through PM on easypooltutor.com
His screen name is qbilder and he responds very quickly.

Sorry for the confusion but I was only respecting his wishes until he gets everything in order.

Thanks to everyone else for the kind words and I will definitely post pics of the finished product as well as provide my assessment of how the cue plays.

He is definitely good people Joey. I asked him about the pin size so I could get joint protectors and he told me he is throwing in custom bocote JP's from the same wood. Made me happy!

I don't read into posts, they are just words, that is why I didn't take your reply in tune and just rewrote what I meant. Sorry you took it as a wiseass remark, that's just me.

The reason I didn't post his name yet is because I know he is going to be moving soon and wasn't sure he wanted his info out there yet.

I don't care where he lives, or where he's going to live. I think you made it clear he was in the military and not nailed down, I still don't get why you wouldn't give out his name. The cue was very nice, IMO he deserves to have a name with the work. Again not for orders or for stalking purposes, just to give credit for work well done.

He currently lives in Alaska and will be moving to New Mexico soon because his wife is still active duty AF.

And maybe next year he'll be in Florida or New York, but still that doesn't put a name with a cue and it just goes along with my point that he's unknown and you're helping him stay that way.

He asked me to hold off on divulging personal info until after the move plus he has a website in the works.

Well then, that's another story. If the guy doesn't want his name out there then I guess you did the right thing, but giving his name is a big stretch from giving out personal info.

I'm glad you granted his wishes, the cue is nice and even if he doesn't want orders he should get credit IMO. But I guess when he's ready for that credit you can give it, until then what's his birthday and favorite color??

You guys crack me up... :D

Love your cue, koop... i am praying that it will be a helluva good hitting cue... because I am also having QBilder make me a cue. Mine will be ready in 2 months or so...

Let us know how it hits when you've received it and played with it...

The wait is the worst part...

Btw,

that joint and those rings with the brass dots are neat...

Cant seem to figure out in the pic what the bumper is... is it wood? Or metal?

Hey nbc,

Is your cue in the batch? If so it probably won't be long. The bumper still needs to be installed, at least that was my impression from our last conversation. I believe just the bumper and shaft are left.

Thanks,
Koop

WOW!!! that's the wierdest bocote i've ever seen. is it like a burled bocote or something?

Hey bruin,

Not sure but I will ask him. I think he said it was just heavily figured bocote but I will find out.

Thanks for the compliment BlowFish.

Late reply... sorry about that. Missed this post.

Anyway, my cue is a couple of months away from being finished. All I can say is Qbilder has some awesome wood in his stock.

Yeah, looking at that pic again, it appears that the bumper is not installed yet. I think that small piece of wood at the end is the core.
