Am I crazee or what ??

The rest of the tables played nice. I didn't play all 20 obviously, but I did play 3-4 of the 7 footers. I wasn't too happy as it was 8-ball alternating blind doubles race to 3. I figured I was donating anyway since it wassa new place and the regs knew the tables.

Since ya in Mass., and yer kid plays decent; PM me as I wanna save it for a lil later on.

Does anyone else feel the same way toward a particular table as I feel toward this one ??

Funny thing is that my son and I played in a few recent doubles tournaments (ours were race to 2), a fund raiser for the Jr Nationals and a recent one (which I actually though you were talking about at first) just a few weeks back. I was paired up with a 14 yr old the first one, which we won (I have to say HE won, as he made a great 8-ball shot hill-hill), and the recent one my son and I were paired up and we came in 3rd out of 26 teams, coming in behind two pairs that were both 40+ yr old players that were both about B level. I'll PM you for the name, want to check out the place.

No Favorites ??

Ok, so I guess no-one has a favorite table they play because they love the way it plays?
I just got done 2 hrs of practice, (League Division championship game isthis week against my old team-mates), and it doesn't play as sweet as that Centennial does. Here's the thing: My table is only 2 yrs old. It's nice (has the K-66 cushions) , but it's still a notch below that Cent.
That table has had to have work done to it. period ! :p

I have an old Brunswick Sport King that still has the original rails & they play as good as the 1st day I got it, I believe in late 1968.

It could have something to do with the rubber they used back in the day.

Hi Rick,

That's Fantastic !!
I hope my new table plays as well in 40 yrs as your Sport King does

Well, I guess I am the only one who ever really fell in love with how a table played. :o

Seriously, The table really played that nice! I guess I was genuinely surprised by just how well it played for a table of that age. (I seen a video of Willie Mosconi playing a Centennial, and I believe it was 1963)

I promised to reveal the pool hall & table, but keep in mind I have no affiliation with the establishment. That said: It is a very nice place with a great owner that loves the game, and his place has a little history as well.

The place is indeed Ivory Billiards Lounge in Holyoke, Mass. The particular table i'm speaking of is in the middle of the place, and (I believe), it is tbl #9

If you are ever out that way; stop in and play that table,............. its worth it!
(I know i'll be back) :happydance:

I believe this table was restored by Mark Gregory, see his post here:

After comparing pictures between this thread and the one I linked, it seems you must of seen it already as the pictures seem to be the same. either that or the pool hall doesn't clean that room because there is a pile of stuff next to the wall behind the table in both pictures.

To "be" or not to "be"

I put in my original post that the pic wasn't the table,.....that it looked just like it. And I mean just like it.
Would it be a fluke if the room owner had that Cent restored and the one in the picture is "the one" ??

Either way,..... sometime soon i'll be back to play on that table.

Sorry, missed that part of the post.

ib just bought one like this from mark gregory

he is the man to get the perfect playing table

i am buying all of these unrestored that i can find for mark to restore
if i get a dozen or so,i might open a really nice room

in my opinion these are the best playing tables ever
gold crown 5 is probably in the same league

i would like to buy gc 5 blacks at reasonable prices too

i am not looking for tight pocket tables or ones that have been made to play like diamonds

I'll be a little more excited next time I go to Northampton to visit my wife's friends and family! I went in there once before and shot some with the new owner--we were the only two people in the place. Sounds like things have picked up.

I have a poolhall about 40 mi from me that has All Diamond ProAm 7 & 9ft tables. I only played on the 9ft when I was there. The tables are beautiful! I felt the rails played a little different on Diamonds as on Brunswick GC's. That Cent is inna league by itself.

If I owned a poolhall; I would seperate it into 3 large rooms. (I'm dreaming now)
The 1st and largest would have GC3's 9 footers & some good 7 ft Valleys. All the bangers can come in here and play all they want!
The 2nd would have all 9ft tables. Diamond proAm's in rosewood, and some GC4's. Leagues & Tournaments, (action too on the quiet nights)
The 3rd room would have 6 tables. 2 Brunswick 10ft billiard tables. 2 10ft Diamond Pro's , and 2 restored 9ft Brunswick Centinnels. (you needa permit to get into this back room!)

That's a Gem

Last Saturday I went to a poolhall in Mass. for a charity event tournament. I have never been there before or even heard of it until this event. I believe they had 20 tables there. Not 1 of them was a diamond table. There were nine 9ft tables; a combination of GC2's and Centennials. The other eleven or so tables were 7ft Valleys. ALL of them had Simonas 860 cloth and were in pristine condition.

Here is what is making me crazee...

I took about 8 practice shots before being called onna Brunswick Centennial 9 ft table that was in the middle of the poolhall. It was 30+ yrs old if it was a day, and looked like it came out of a time capsule ! Of those 8 practice shots, 4 of them were bankshots. I could not believe how well these shots came off of the rail ! This table is calling me like the sirens in Homer's Illiad !! :yikes::yikes: It is 113 mi away (one-way)

Yes, it came off of the rail that nice !! I have played all kinds of tables,..... Diamonds, Olhausen's, Brunswick, Valley's,... and a host of secondary tables. This is not THAT TABLE, but looks just like it. What's wrong with me ???

Awesome table, I had one like that in my pool room for 17 years. Everyone loved it, however, it wasn't in that good of shape. That's a Gem.

It's a nice room for sure but for the most part has few good players and very little action. Rooms like this are closing at an alarming rate and all I can say is it suuuuucks. ( not the room, just the fact that that so many like it have closed )
