American legs weak on foreign soil? Or simply not good enough?

Whilst it's the 'many versus the few' in terms of countries, American pool is a minority sport at best in Europe. The UK has probably 3-400 players who like the game enough to own their own cue. Put it this way, there are probably more regular posters on AZB than there are serious players in the entire UK. I doubt other Euro countries are awash with pool halls, either.

ps only Americans like Benny Hill.

This was never the subject. Nor would I dare say anyone would disagree with you.

Having more pool players and more pool tables does not make the US nation strong at pool - or does it?

So why are you debating, if you know Europe can't hang?

You're saying, "well you beat us but only because of blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah blah blah blah... bullshit."

At the end of the day, you just want to argue. Doesn't matter what for, or about. You're a LOSER. If you want to find out how big of one, just open up your wallet. I'm sure we can find you a game.

You beat us? When?

I feel my original thread hasn't got lost slighlty and I by no means tried to strike up a Europe (GB) vs USA war. As for Europe being a host of different couintries against 1 this is true but c'mon EU countries are the size of states and USA is the home of AMERICAN pool.Frankly it is basically GB, Holland , Germany versus USA. Honestly I think GB alone would give the USA team alone thinkign of Appleton, Melling, Boyes, Shaw, Peach.

As for money and nobosy wanting to bet with SVB I do not know if this is true or not but I don't see how having the confidence to play in an all star studded tourament and win consistently anywher on the planet makes you scared like Daz. SVB I do believe because of the break has a gear unlike any other but no tournaments aren't about that. An Svb did not want to play Alex in all around for 50g so is he scared then of Alex?
As for the cultural differences yes there are gambling in pool is an American phemenon which I love having previosly hailed from GB. In GB we have gambling legally i.e Will Hill, Ladbrokes etc so thats where the gambling takes place on football, golf, snooker the horses. (Please no pun about Stephen Lee).
Fundamental question and JC bvrought this up many top Eu are living in the US why? There is a huge pool scene compared to Europe, yes we have Euro tour but you can do both liek Boyes etc they do GB9, Euro and come over here for the big tournaments. Daz well he got a mrs and Toastie sponsor him here. What I am asking is why are other places in teh World i.e, Asia and EU dominating the game?

And for the record I would put my mortgage on any of the EU top guys against Strickland at Steinway. I mena Shaw has been giving lessons to Earl there for months.

You'll argue my pattern as I get out. There you have it. I did it wrong but still won... It's not wrong if it works.

Only it doesn't, obviously.

You are perfectly free to continue believing your way is the best. But if you choose to do so, you should not post any more 'why is pool dying in America' type threads.

They have always been popular.

(It does grate how you lot pronounce the word Python, though).

Pray tell, how do "you lot" pronounce it?

The snake of the same name has been pronounced "piethon" , two syllables, since I can remember.

MarsMan said it best in the other related thread.

I agree completely - no one would DARE question the abilities of some TOP USA players but they have a lot to learn when it comes to travelling outside the USA and dealing with other cultures etc.. One player can't do it alone it requires a strong team of individuals with a strong team ethic and travel strong together in which the ONE individual can shine!

snooker the horses. (Please no pun about Stephen Lee).

Lol. Stephen Lee on a horse? He may have eaten one...

It still tickles me he found an extra gear from somewhere to win the tournament that offered 'win your body weight' in pies as first prize. Probably apocryphal, but a good one nonetheless.

It obviously does. I don't think pool is dying in America either. It's easier for pro's to make a living here than it is in Europe. Your guys seem to be moving here more and more...

I think you hit the nail on the head pretty good. Even Shane doesn't travel much. No real pay off in it.

I think Europeans can play well. When it comes to REAL pool, not Mosconi cup, USA is still stronger by a decent margin. There aren't many guys that could grind out a long set with your second tear pro's like Bartrum, Shuff, or Mike D. let alone the big guns. The biggest problem the Europeans have, is that they think race to 13 is a long set...

Pool appears to be popular in the US.
Your technique is awful.
Modernise.

Lol, your logic is as blind as it is ignorant.

So despite our"awful" technique, American players have been among the elite players worldwide for well over 100 years.

Maybe you should open your eye's and realize that your way isn't the only way or the best way for all. But no, you'd rather keep your hear buried in the sand and continue to believe that the uk is the best at everything and everyone else is wrong!

No wonder people think the British got a cob stuck up their ass, CAUSE THEY DO!

Oh well, pocket point/push pool or whatever you prefer to go by these days, your entitled to your opinion, I just wish you would learn the difference between opinion and fact.

Yeah, to fill the skills shortage.

My guess is to attempt to get paid...

For all your shit talk, you never really want to address a point. You open your mouth, but NEVER your wallet. You probably wouldn't bet $5 you speak english. Keep calm Thaiger, I think there's a snooker sub forum...

Do you REALLY believe when you lose, that the opponent's pattern play, or position play matters. He's still better than you.

I keep reading aboout SVB as one of the best in the world but never won any international in singles, he won the World Cup with Morris, the only international he won. Stop saying that SVB will beat anybody in long races or he can beat anyone. You are just adding pressure to the guy. Just let him be. If pressure is out, he might win. We don't pressure our UK players to win, we just watch and if they win bravo, if not better luck next year.

I happen to think the Europeans are a long way behind the Asians. Europe and America are going to become second class citizens very quickly if we don't get our acts together.

Pool in Europe is a niche market, so there is nothing to see there, but it is an absurdity America has no game. What are you missing?

Access? No.
Money? No.
Players? No.
Equipment? No.
Resources? No.
History? No.
Pedigree? No.

An open mind? Hmm.

His mentality reminds me of Phil Helmuth playing poker.

Phil after loosing" It doesn't make sense, I play the right way, he doesn't. I should win....it's not fair.... why wont he play my way" Lol childish mentality.
