Below is a list of trains that Amtrak has unlimited monthly traveling on. Is one of the packages highly desirable as it relates to traveling to pool halls?

I've often thought of traveling via train to pool tournaments visiting different cities. It may too expensive to justify.

Already, I have found out that I cannot travel on the City of New Orleans train with the multi-stop package. Still, I was wondering which of the packages had the most number of desirable pool halls to visit.

Does anyone have any idea about the pool halls in these different AMTRAK Train Packages?

I was kind of dreaming about going out to the Jay Swanson tournament on a train, also visiting San Diego, where I visited many years ago and a visit to San Francisco all on the same train package, but that probably isn't practical but I could imagine it would be fun.

I think what might be practical is choose ONE of the multi-city packages and hit all of the pool rooms in those areas.

Interesting! I'll be looking forward to more information!

I'm kind of curious if any of our members have traveled via Amtrak, but I am primarily interested in using it to travel around to visit different pool rooms. Amtrak may not be practical for that. :frown:

Even looking at the City Of New Orleans train, it appears that it travels all the way to Chicago and back but there doesn't seem to be any getting on or off.....except at the two main points.

Joey's going on the road. There going to call him Joey "the trainman" instead of roadman:smile:. Johnnyt

We did a train ride

My wife and I took Amtrak from Denver to San Francisco(Oakland) stayed a few days and then to Reno stayed a few days and then back to Denver. We did this I'll guess 20 yrs ago and it was fun. We had a private room on the first and third leg of the trip. Enjoyed it very much. If I recall properly we stopped in Salt Lake too but didn't stay there.

I get the America by Rail newsletter and they sent me their catalog for 2012. It appears to just be vacation/pleasure travels and are quite expensive. My wife found out we could travel from Florida to NY and take our car on the train on Amtrack, not from Charlotte, however:frown:

I must correct you Johnnyt...Joey is going on the "rail" not the road.

So, does that make Joey a "rail player" instead of a "road player?"
Does the meaning of "rail birds" change at all?
When on the road, truck stops have "lot lizards", so what does the railroad have..."Rail Lizards?"
Does "down the rail" mean your next town now?

I love traveling by train Joey. The clacking of the wheels and the gentle rocking motion is relaxing.
Unfortunately, the city I live in lost its train service many moons ago. I would have to travel 150 miles to catch one.

I caught an Amtrak from Buffalo NY to Springfield Mass in 1980. That was a nice one.

They used to leave the walkway in between cars open. I used to stand in between the cars and watch the scenery go by. I'd take train over plane any day of the week. I'll take my chances with a train wreck over falling 6 miles from the sky.
