An Appeal for a sponsor or two.

Good luck!

Hey Ming! We hope to see you in all the WPBA events next year. You were the most deserving Tiger Tour player this year by a large margin! You've been in the cash in all 14 women's events that you've played with us! Here are some links for your new adoring fans:

Thanks Andy, especially for the pictures. If anything, it looks like she gets down on the ball better than ever.

My good friend Ming Ng won the Women's Tiger Tour in the Mid Atlantic region this year and is now eligible to play the entire WPBT season. I believe there are eight or nine events scheduled.

She tells me she can't afford to take time off from her job to play in these events, unless she has a sponsor. It will cost her a minimum of $1,250 to compete in each pro tourney. Is there anyone out there who has a billiard company that would like to have Ming represent them? She is a great rep, who never fails to attract attention with her glowing personality, cool outfits and determined play.

Ming speaks well, looks good and makes a great appearance wherever she goes. She is definitely a crowd pleaser, and can play and compete with the best of them. I'd love to see her have the opportunity to play the pro tour again. I'm in for the $250 if someone else can help out with the rest. She would be forever grateful as well, and quite willing to make personal appearances on behalf of her sponsor.

I gave her a cue!!, LEt me get some income and soon as I do I will do more for her. Until then I hope she kick's ass with the cue I gave her!! Ming is the best and I second Jay here; lets get her going!!!!

Sounds good Mike,

I'll try to find some other way to contribute to the Ming campaign. :)

Colin ~ Wonders if looking at her photos counts.

Ming called me from work today. She is on "cloud nine" about this thread and Az Billiards. She didn't know she had so many fans and supporters out there. She said that its hard for her to get time to come on here during the week. She is working 50-60 hours a week currently.

I think what we've done is convince her to take another look at playing on the WPBT next year, at least part time. We'll see where it goes from here. She is waiting to see the schedule for next year before making any commitments.

The WPBA schedule is up on their site. Johnnyt

Hi Ming...

Nice to see you posting here...I haven't been playing much and don't get around like I used to...but when you make it to Capone's or somewhere near Orlando I'll stop by to say hello and cheer you on...

And let me add to the discussion about Ming's talent...it wasn't too too long ago when she was just about unbeatable in Florida...and like Jay said she had a pretty good WPBA ranking...

I'm sure she still has some stuff...anyone putting something into the pot will get their money's worth...Ming plays to win.

Looks like something is being set up here by the moderator...I'll chip in what I can when I can...

Go Ming!

Mike

A Quick Update

As you probably know, Ming just won the WPBA Amateur Nationals. That qualified her for a free entry fee into four tour stops this year. The first one is coming up on April 1-5 in San Diego.

Her expenses will still be well over $750 to play in each event, with airfare and room. She is also losing income from her job where she is currently working a 50-60 hour week. But I have convinced her to take advantage of this opportunity and play these four events.

I will be acting as her agent on here, collecting funds and funneling it to her. 100% of ALL money that comes in will go to Ming! Many of you expressed an interest in helping Ming compete again. Here's your chance to do that. You can send any donations to me at Paypal - jayhelfert@yahoo.com. Make sure you indicate this is money for Ming. Or you can mail to me at P.O. Box 1883, Redondo Beach, CA 90278.

Ming will post on here when she has a chance. She really appreciates the opportunity to play on the pro tour again.

By the way, Johnnyt has already contributed $100. Thanks Johnny!

I wish Ming well.

She wont remember it but years back around the mid 9s I think she and I hung out together for about a week in Mobile. Ming, Rodney Guy and Myself had a blast down there. She is alot of fun and always gets people smiling.
Pretty easy on the eyes as well :D

Good luck in the four events. I will see what I can do as the events come up.

Maybe a dumb question, but has anyone (Ming, Jay, or otherwise) tried contacting a major cue company, like Viking or McDermott? I'm sure if she agreed to play with one of their cues, maybe wear a shirt with their logo on it, they'd kick in the $$$ to pay for her expenses. That's what sponsorship is all about, right?

Heck, I wish I had 1/10 of her talent...! :embarrassed2:

edit: Also, just a thought, but what about her offering to spend an hour or three doing instructions (or just playing), and the people could pay for the privilege of playing with a world-class player? I'm sure there'a a lot of people who would pay ($50? $75? $150?) an hour for that privilege. Seeing as she's a top-10 finisher (and apparently, a top-3 most of the time), surely that can't be a bad idea, right? Heck, I wish I knew her personally, or she lived in Tampa...I'd be spending probably $500 a month to get her to watch and critique me! :P

Thanks for the good suggestions. Ming did have a sponsorship deal at one time with Vitalie Pool Tables. She just doesn't have the time to devote to making appearances for a sponsor now, since she is working full time (plus plenty of overtime). It is almost too much for her to play in these four events, as she is losing money by not working those four weeks (from Wednesday on). I am probably responsible for getting her to play at all, since she felt like it was taking a cut in pay to take nearly four weeks off. I've encouraged her to at least play the four events she won entries into.

And no, she doesn't have time for clinics or lessons either at this time. The only way to see her play is to go to one of these four events, or maybe on the Tiger Tour again (on weekends). I don't even know when she will have time for practice (weekends maybe). She rarely plays and only got in stroke while she was at the Amateur Nationals. True story!

She did tell me that her stroke is stronger now because of her job, which is physically demanding. She is an electricians apprentice, and in the union.

Ming is exiting to watch and sweat bet. She will get your heart going when she gets out of line on a runout and just fires a few banks in to get back in line. Shes a very smart player too. Her defensive game is very good too. Johnnyt

I am in for the six cases I previously offered. I also look forward to making a special Empress Ming case - from the center of the world :-)

Good to see you back on tour!!!!

I thought about this a little more today. The six cases will be a series, each on unique. Each one will easily be worth more than $1000 but I am going to offer them starting at $500 with private bids. The winning bidder will pay the amount directly to Jay's paypal account. I will cover the shipping fee on each case.

The first Empress Case will be available at the end of March. And every two months after that. All proceeds to go to funding Ming's return to professional pool!!!
