And here comes the Euros

You said it, 30 seconds research would show the Norwegian stance as regards the war on terror is very much in keeping with your own

Take another puff, Mr. Amsterdam. We're trying to stop genocide, beheadings, and child soldiers while The Netherlanders prefer to find out how many different hybrids of marijuana and hash they can invent.

I think you'll find that the US is becoming more relaxed about marijuana than the Dutch, besides, I am Scottish and do not smoke weed

I will be in Blackpool next week for every session, I will be sure to wear a kilt, get drunk and act like a soccer hooligan, just for you Mr Stereotyper :)

Oh yeah, and Europe... Just to good for you!

Ah, the Scots. I'll refrain from mentioning their contributions to history, out of respect to pro9dog who I consider a friend.

But me thinks yer talkin' pish. Beware of rolling donuts.

Nice short list. There ain't enough time in the day or enough room in a message window for me to list American's contributions to the world. Of course, let's not forget we're engaged in a back-and-forth colloquy on a forum invented in the States. :grin-square:

Made in the USA!

Yeah, you'll be in good company with the other Blackpool hooligans ---> HERE :wave2:

I can't get enough of this older Mosconi Cup commercial with the Secret Agent theme. I give the Euros credit for this one. Well done! I wish they'd do something like this for 2014. This is really a classic ---> HERE

Quality!!

You are conflating two totally different things.
WW1 and WW2 is in no way directly related to the relative new rise in Islamic fundamentalism, jihad etc.
Europe is as you know not part of the middle east, although one contry in Europe do border to Syria.
I have never denied that USA was a very important factor in stopping Hitler, Mussolini (and Hirohito)
But the problems we see today in the middle east has totally other explanations.
The hatered towards the Vest and especially USA is directly related to the foreign policy being conducted in the middle east by USA and European countries.

I think everyone should chill on all the political war comments. These posters were all done in a light spirited way and in fun ;). In the words of Jay, this is "Pool Wars" and nothing else.

Good Luck and GO USA!!!!

Check out Niels' Mosconi Cup poster. Love this one!

Yeah, I guess Canada's contribution to the World was mushy peas and Bonus Ball.
Snowmobiles, Eatmore bars, Polar Bears, Moose Knuckles, The Noble Beaver, etc. I went to let the doggies out for a morning pee and there was a polar bear in my back yard. I guess that I should stop feeding them, the neighbors cats.

I haven't had a holiday for some time. Maybe I will travel to my ancestors Home land to cheer on my favorite team.
Jam, I will be the guy wearing a Union Jack Tee shirt with no hair.

I can side track to Scotland and get myself a new kilt and bag pipes.

The old bag pipes are getting worn out. All they do is make a lot of noise. Come to think about it, that's all they ever did. But tis a good noise. Aye.

Maybe I will eat some cabers and toss some haggis too. Yeah, if ya ever eat haggis 12 beer under, you'll toss it too. Then I will chase some sheep that wear little silver bells.

JAM, have you ever traveled outside of the USA? Europe? Asia? I'm a little curious if you are writing from a point of first hand experience or distant observation and stereotyping.

The posters are pretty decent. Better than I could do :D

I gotta say Team Europe is already up 1-0 in this years MC given the posters.

While the USA just took the Expendables theme and put every player into the same type of scene Team Europe took each individual player and found a unique thing about them and zoned the poster for each into their own personality. Nikos as Spartacus? He is Greek, that works. Niels as the Terminator? A little obvious but if certainly fits. Mark Gray as a 00 agent? Perfect for him. Appleton as Bruce Lee? Errm... well he is a great player.... The coach as Yoda? That was freaking priceless.

The media overseas is just as tainted as American media. Knowing this, I don't rely on the media to form my opinions about some topics.

I have never been to Europe, Africa, South America, Asia, or Austrailia. I've been to Canada and Mexico when I was much younger.

My job sometimes gives me a glimpse in different parts of the world by people who have traveled there for their work, whether it is industry, political, and academic reasons. These folks most definitely understand other cultures in ways I could never even dream of, even if I traveled where they went. They engage with only the top people in their chosen endeavors.

The foreign media, depending on which country you go to, paints a broad-brush picture of America to their own advantages sometimes. We see Germany, for example, as non-responsive in some world events, when we're expending American money and lives to squelch a situation that is killing thousands of innocent lives. Whereas, Germany views their non-assistance mode much differently. Depending on which media you watch can form your opinion on various topics.

As well, I will point out that when you travel to Europe, for example, most people can speak two, three, and four different languages. Americans, the majority of us only speak English. This is quite disconcerting, and there has been a recent push in our education system to teach Chinese and Arabic in our schools, rather than Spanish or French.

I call it like I see it. I may not agree with the stance of non-Americans on a variety of political issues, but that's okay. Being that I am American, I respect everyone to have freedom of speech, even you, Shinobi. :)

Oh, one more thing I want to share. :o

About 10-ish years ago, subject to check, I was sitting outside of the Chesapeake Conference Center in Virginia, the week that the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship was in progress. I smoked ciggies back then, so hanging outside with the other smokers was actually fun. We'd sit back and smoke, chatting about all kinds of topics.

Alex Pagulayan and Francisco Bustamante were sitting on a bench, signing autographs. I had gotten to know both of these guys pretty well from seeing them at other pool tournaments. I was actually very good friends with Bustie, in particular. I just think he's really cool -- and still do even though I haven't seen him in a long while.

We were all talking about pool, of course, and I was bragging about some of the players in the tournament who I thought would win. Alex listened to me intently and then said, "Jennie, who do you think has the strongest players? Americans or the players from overseas?" Not missing a beat, I said, "Why, Americans, of course."

Alex just nodded his head up and down and didn't respond. He respected my opinion, though now, many years later, I realize how wrong my opinion was at that time. I had not walked in the shoes of Alex Pagulayan and had no idea what was happening in pool overseas where Alex had been.

This photo below was taken on that day that Alex and I had this conversation. It was kind of a moment that froze for me, when I first realized that times were a-changing in the pool world. Americans were no longer as dominant as they once were. After the Filipino invasion, along came the Europeans. And now we all are well aware of how strong the Asian contingency is in the mix.

And to my forum adversary/friend aka Blue Hog ridr, by golly, World Champion Alex Pagulaya's roots are Canadian. Oh, Canada! Oh, Canada! :grin-square:
