Does anyone know what she's been up to?? I haven't seen her name in any tournaments lately.

I saw her back at the KOH tourney with Vivian. She looked great but we didn't chat much...was enthralled with Vivian telling me about finding her daughter.

I don't mean to veer off subject here but on the same note, whatever happened to Rachel Abbink and Pamela Bell?

Rachael ( that is the correct spelling)was doing fine when I ran into her in Oroville, Northern California around 10 weeks ago.U got to plan to attend WPBA tournaments one of these days.

The two MIA women players who I always wonder about are Kristi Carter and Holly Sholes from Oklahoma City. They were two top young players five or six years ago and just kind of dropped off the face of the Earth.

Another good young player from about 15 years ago was Kris Turner. She also disappeared, after winning at least one major tournament (Memphis I think).

Kristi and Holly were more of the "road player" types than they were cut out to play in the WPBA. I honestly think the WPBA was a little boring for them.

Then there was that incident with Ming Ng at the SBE several years ago... But I digress...

Maybe after Barbara gives us her Ming Ng story, Jay Helfert can chime in with the Ming story he hinted at when he talked about getting lost cues back.

I only saw the "Empress" one time in San Diego, but she seemed like a character. Nice looking lady and she can play some pool. That empress bit does crack me up every time I think about it, though.

Uf she live in PHX AREA she was alive and well the week before X-mas, as she was at Nick Varner DEMO in Masa @ Main Street Billiards that week....

Rachael and I had a nice long talk in Reno the week afterwards. She is doing well.

She was friends with my ex. He loved her game. He said she had a sweet stroke and described her as a, "scrapper". The guys used to tell stories about her in Reno, how 2 guys would be barking at each other, she would walk over and tell them she would play either of them and beat them to. I don't really know her but I used to see her at Goodtimes and around the LA area, she was always smiling, happy and always seemed to have a positive attitude.

I was at the party in which Holly and Ming got into an unfortunate tussle. It was thrown on the Sunday on which the event finsihed by Allen and Dawn Hopkins for their friends, the players, and those who participated in the administration and oversight of the event at Valley Forge. I believe it was in 2000.

Getting back on subject, Angel will surely be at the WPBA San Diego event at the Viejas Casino and Hotel which begins next Thursday. I wish her well.

conincidence

Ming has been in town (Philly) all week.
She was at Ballbusters last night, i can only assume that she will be at Drexeline tonight for their scratch tournament.

When i was talking to her at the Expo, she said that she hasn't been doing the WPBA thing due to the fact that she was in a car accident or something like that.

Yeah, she played in my event last weekend. She started off a little shaky, but quickly found a head of steam to finish 3rd.

And yes, she was in an unfortunate accident and recovered from surgery. She's shooting very well.

Her mother recently passed away and she hasn't been playing much pool.

I'm sorry to hear that. It had to be devistating. Time heals all wounds so I'm sure she'll be back, and in better form. I don't mean it to sound so simple but that type of event in your life seems to give us a new and stronger direction in the end.
