Another Efren moment

It's the same shot, except for the (accidental, I think) second rail.

I agree that the second rail may have been accidental. I tried the shot at my home table last night and I couldn't get nearly enough side spin transfer on the OB that would give me that second rail. And my balls are filthy.

Just yesterday a buddy of mine did it on the very first try, he did not try again;)

Spin transfer and all, exactly how Efren shot it (except off course he placed
the 10 and cueball by hand). Balls are fairly clean where we play. No way on
earth that second rail was accidental.

When he called the side I knew but didn't think that's how he was playing it!

Efren is the man PERIOD!!!!!

I played a shot similar to that in apa a few yrs ago. Mine was goin cross corner the short way. My opponent was running a couple until he froze up to one of his and couldn't do anything. Took a time out and decided to play a VERY smart safe on me which was executed perfectly!

Anyway I had 3 balls plus the 8 and I could only see 1 ball which didn't have a pocket. I took a minute or so to decide but no matter what choice I had, there was no safety! So I took the shot, I banked the object ball dead straight into the rail, stopped the cue ball, and when the object ball came back, it hit whitey and into the corner!:)

The best part about that was before I shot it, I imagined the cue ball being where I wanted on the next shot. And that a where it ended up:)

I played it off soooo cool but when I left, I couldn't stop smiling for days!! One of those shots you will never forget!

Thanks for the video, its always intriguing to see what the man is gonna do next;)

I made a similar shot at a Senior Citizen center in Nebraska where they played 1 & 15 in the side pocket 8-ball and the 8 had to be banked in the last pocket. My last pocket was the side, and the 8 and cueball were about 6 inches out from the rail. I had to draw the cueball back about 8 inches to position it so the 8 would carom off it into the side pocket.

Makes the game more fun to watch and make shots like that.

I think it doesn't matter if the 10 goes one or two rails, the angle towards the cueball is roughly the same.
I still can't believe Efren did this in a tournament match... :p

Why would he use 2 rails? It makes the shot even harder.

I disagree. I think it would be WAY harder to try and make that shot without the second rail from where the balls are lying.

I am curious. Was this just an exhibition match, fun play, money game, or a real tournament match?

ALL OF YOU PEOPLE THAT THINK ANY PART OF THIS SHOT WAS ACCIDENTAL or EASY,
(OR WHATEVER SMALL QUIBBLES YOU MAY FIND WITH IT THAT HELP YOU SLEEP
AT NIGHT) ARE PURELY INSANE!! no one on this forum should say anything to that effect
.Efren Reyes is an absoulty mind boggling player. Your only response to this thread should be "WOW". Feel grateful you live in a time that you were able to witness his amazing abilities.

It was hill-hill in the finals of a world championship :p

The OB carom angle is harder from that angle (OB going away from the rail instead of parallel to it when it hits the CB). It's also harder to hit the CB accurately off of 2 rails.

That doesn't mean Efren's not Da Man - we don't have to gild the lily for him.

No way the 2nd rail is accidental (it's Efren we're talking about LOL). If you look at the shot closely, he put bottom right on the cue ball so the right spin transferred left spin on the 10 reason why is 2nd-railed. Those questioning it, need to play a lot more rather than waste your time here.

If you say so-You seem to have such insight!! So actually Efren MISSED this shot by about a foot when he hit that rail. I see!!

Im so thankful for the sharp forum members that point things out like this for us slackers and dullards.

BTW- I have watched thousands of games of 1P-never seen a carom off the CB played. I've seen a number of guys demonstrate "this cool shot" but not once was this "common 1p shot" (ahahahahaha) played in a game..

Some of the replies are so funny! Anyone who thinks the second rail was accidental is really not seeing the shot correctly!

Take a look at the video again and see what the cue ball did after he shot it, it stopped!
If he didn't spin it, the object ball would of hit the other side of the cue ball one rail!

That angle needed the spin! That angle needed the second rail!

I wish I had time to gamble with all you great players who know sloppily much about this easy game;)

It was perfect. I'm sure he, and others, miss a lot of those and they don't make it into youtube. Whether it was an exhibition or a tournament where he was way ahead against a player he had beat, it's still a great shot that was executed to perfection. It's beautiful - a thing of wonder.

Have you ever tried the shot? I think you'd drop the second rail idea pretty quickly.

///pretty sure...just showing off. I think Efren and Francisco were doing exhibitions recently coming up to a tournament in Germany, just started.

///I haven't seen it often in 1P, but have seen it more often playing golf on a snooker table, to either a side or corner pocket that otherwise was blocked.

...anyway you look at it....cool shot.

Indeed, we will miss him when he hangs it up. But you know, his bad game is still pretty sporty.;)

As I mentioned before, I tried the shot on my home table and I can't get nearly enough side spin transfer on the OB for it to hit so far up that second rail. That is why I came to the conclusion that Efren *may* have not intended that second rail. But I wouldn't be surprised if Efren actually did intend it that way, simply because he is Efren and that's exactly how the shot played out (and the playing conditions in that tournament are much different than my home table). But based on my own experimental evidence, I can see why it can be reasonable to think that the second rail was accidental.

How many people have tried this shot themselves on an actual pool table? What were your results?
