Another 'How to play' scenario

Ok, I like a little more aggressive shot than Russ. The 3 rail kick for this shot is fairly easy to line up because the OB is on the rail and if you miss the pocket you're going to leave a little more difficult shot for your opponent. At this point in the game you're all in so you may as well shoot for the gold.

Did you notice though, that the 5 stopped at the edge of the pocket, thus leaving the opponent a shot.

He casually cuts the 11 into the corner pocket, barely missing the side pocket scratch and lands perfect for a straight in shot on the 8. PERFECT..:D

You are in a tough situation here. Jumping wouldn't be a bad idea (being that it iis on a bar table and easier to reach), but, depends on your ability. I would try just to make contact and try to leave the cue ball on the opposite rail instead of trying to make the ball, missing and selling out.

However, the shot I would feel most comfortable with is diagrammed below. I would kick at the 5, hitting the rail first so I would send the cueball over to the foot rail and to the opposite side of the table.

I like your solution the best, however I think I would hit the second rail closer to my ball and try to make it. If I hit it good then it's in. If I hit it bad then I would most likely get your results.

Also another option is to kick at my ball two rails by shooting to the right side of the eight (in the same fashion that you would kick for the 3 or the 6 hole in golf). If I knew the table was fairly true this will give me the best option to get the hook because I would be hitting my ball much fuller rather than kicking it one rail as suggested by others.
