Another "How would you play this" .. :D

kill itttt

using nerd power, I figured out that if you hit the 8 square in the face, and the OB banks away at the exact mirror angle, it heads for the left jaw of that corner pocket (not what I drew). It truly is dead, because you'd expect any bank like that to tighten up a bit and head for the heart of the pocket.

If for some reason (like draw on the cb, funny rail action, etc) the 8 banks to the short rail as shown, then with decent speed you can get it to end up where the red arrow is. Somewhere around there may leave the other guy a tough shot with the wrong angle to get to the 9. Or it may not, but anyway even if it's not a 2 way shot, I think making the 8 is the right shot.

It's not my favorite shot but I think making the 9 from a dead stop shot near that side pocket is a decent proposition. I wouldn't risk screwing things up by adding follow, and there's no need for draw of any sort except maybe a little bit to make sure the CB isn't rolling when it strikes the 8.

Agreed. I did the same thing tonight.

I think if you read the answers instead of trying to "read into them" something that is not there, you would get more out of this forum.

Sorry if I did not make myself clear enough to suit you. I hope this does.

looks can be deceiving

It looks like it borders impossible to me but I could be wrong. I'm sorry but even if you can get the right contact point, you're going to have to hit it at mach 7 to get it in the side pocket. So, if you're going to hit it at mach 2 or higher, you can pretty much do whatever you want and it's all the same.

Jude,

Sometimes things aren't what they appear to be. Try the crossbank for yourself. I think you will find the acceptable contact point to be bigger than you would think due to some built in corrections. Shots very similar to this were once favorites of mine, . . . on a snooker table.
