is that a signature above the handle?

Yes, but that would ruin the fun.
Andy Gilbert
Guys, this is one I made about 6-7 years ago but never quite finished. Hope to get to that sometime soon. Cored tulipwood nose and short ivory joint. The cue hits really nice.![]()
Was Andy Gilbert involved in any way? Like, did you use his shop? Did he help you along the way?
It looks great. I only ask because there are at least 1 or 2 elements I see that look distinctly Gilbert-esque/Gilbert-inspired.
Never knew you made cues before reading this Sean. I really like the 4th cue (6 pointer) possible from the bottom & the last cue on the bottom. Are they both BR or cocobolo wood? Thanks for sharing your work sir, looks very nice. Have a nice day
Jeff
No, not really anything that was intended. Matt and I have a fully tooled cue shop and we've been dabbling with cues for about 10 years. Everything on this one was done entirely in-house, except the veneered ring pack in the butt that was salvaged off an old Guffey cue (and I think this ring billet originally came from Burton Spain, back when he was selling blanks and supplies).
You know we've been ordering and designing cues for Andy to build for us for a longer time than that even, so maybe there are some 'subliminal' similarities that came through in this cue.
And yes, he has offered us a lot of helpful advice over the years.
I'll see if I can dig up some other pics of examples of our cues and will post them.
