Another Option to the Wei Table

My Thoughts ....

I think the posters on here need to give George Wei feedback on Cuetable, both good and bad. I know a lot of posters are hesitant to use the New Wei table because it has more functionality than the simpler first Version, BUT
the functioanlity is not NEARLY AS DIFFICULT as what it might appear to be.

It is simply taking the time to experiment with it to learn how to do new things with it. Personally, I would like to see a subforum set up for Cuetable, with questions, answers (from George), and illustrations of how to use it.

Not having spent much time with it, a few things I have noticed that I would like in it:

1) The capability to PRINT the table with or without the options.
The capability to print multiple tables on 1 page with a header (or comments) about each table.

2) The ability to be able to paste the actual table layout in a better
easier fashion than the round-a-about way that currently exists.
(Let us use the clipboard for the code, and let us use it for the actual
table too - The 'Record' function generates the code URl, let us have a button for generating the actual table to the clipboard too for a 'Paste'
function somewhere else (on another website, email, etc.).

3) The ability to have 3 TEXT SIZES instead of 1 for illustration purposes.

If this is going to be the 'Cadilliac' version, give us a little flexibility in the functionality.

We already had an online tournament here on the board using the random layout function. Then we would draw lines depicting our out. Whoever had the best out won.

Good post, Scott. Just out of curiosity, though, where did you get "George" Wei? I used to play in a 3-cushion league with Wei, and as far as I knew, that was his first name. I hope I'm not wrong, lol.

The functionality I would love to see is the ability to truly have the shot play out like a movie. He should be able to do this within a flash framework. Once you draw the lines, just have the balls move along their designated paths. There will definitely be some programming elements involved, so not sure how much time he wants to devote to it.

If he can pull this off, I think the tool will have truly reached its full potential.

The ability is already there, the balls will go to the end of the drawn lines.
It is, however, just a before and after picture, and does not play it out like a movie would, but still a useful tool.

Also, I believe George is the American name he goes by for a first name.

I've never heard this, but then again, Wei is funny like that. I would have thought he would have chosen "Elvis."

His name is Chen Chao Wei (or Wei Chen Chao). We've always called him "Wei" since that's how he signs his posts. I'm sure that when I've spoken to him, he's said "this is Wei," not "this is George Wei" or "this is Chen Chao."

Here is the Cuetable Tournament if anyone is interested:
http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=28215

Half way through we ran into some techincal problems as the URL's the table produces stopped working. I've since found the URL's can be copied and pasted into the Cuetable.

The biggest drawback ...or stepback of this table is the inability to make curved lines. Other than that, it is a great improvement...especially the random table feature, the URL instant click feature and the larger size, increased clarity with ability to draw many lines.

I am guessing that he is Chinese. I been told that they use their first name is their surname. That is why Yoa Ming has Yoa on his jersey. If it isn't than he is the only player in the NBA that has his first name on a jersey.

Click on the "i" for a help page.

Also click on the "Page Record" button and then the "URL Export" button, then you can paste the full URL elsewhere like in a message here.

I was having trouble changing something, then just pressing "URL Export" and then it would not include the changes. So the key is pressing the "Page Record" button *and* then the "URL Export" button.
