so low squirt cues aren't good for people who use Back-hand english (like myself, didn't realize it, until somebody posted it, and i thought about it for a minute lol). Well, that's why i couldn't run three balls with a predator...

Thanks

Jon
Not unless you plug up that hole and install an ivory ferrule. :D

tried a few, don't like. lack the feel of real wood baby.
Some people believe all kinds of hype, hell theres still people out that believe in UFO's and little green men.
oops, did I just start something?
Anyway Hendry played wit a cheepo one piece maple cue for most of his world dominating career, so it's good enough for the likes of me.
Maybe they help people with crappy strokes that don't know how to juice a ball.

I saw Efren's cue up close about 2 months ago, it didn't have a predator shaft on it.
I think Efren plays with a Judd cue, with an old "bowling ball alley" shaft.

Personally, I don't like the hit of the Predators. It feels "numb". Well, I think I'm in the minority with my opinions. Umm, if I remember right, I won one tournament with a borrowed cue, Mali butt with a Predator shaft and that combination felt quite nice. Maybe it was the super hard tip on the shaft that made the difference...

I used to love predator shafts. I was using one back then and when I ordered my first custom cue, I had a pred shaft go with it. But after playing for a while with the solid maple shaft, I can't seem to get myself to go back to the pred shaft. Even though I had a hard time adjusting to the greater amount of deflection of the maple shaft, I find that it's worth the time for the adjustment. I'm now able to control the CB better than when I was using a pred. Might be because of more feedback I get from the maple shaft.

Hey, Miko. What custom cue is that ?

I have a very low deflection custom cue, and i wouldn't change it with ten preds. jmho

backhand english means their stroke has a swerve to it. :) Really, that's what it means. Interesting idea if you can master the technique, but probably not for the masses. There's all sorts of talk about the how and why you move your back hand on the cue, laterally. Point is, it all amounts to lateral movement in a part of your stroke that most people have a hard enough time controlling in a straight line.

I have a Predator shaft. I used it for quite a while but am now back to a regular maple shaft. It is amazing how different they hit. I tried going back and forth between the Predator and the maple and I found that there was quite a difference. I prefer the good old fashioned maple shaft because I like the feel and to me that's what is important. JMHO

A year ago all anybody talked about on these forums
was how great predator shafts. A year later... hmmm,

Hondo,
Rush out and buy a Predator, they'te GREAT (I hope the Silencer doesn't see this).

I know you said his was only for those who didn't like Predator, but...

I know some really great shooters who use Predator. It's not the cue, it's the handler! I love my Predator!!!

Preadtor are good for one thing and that is if you like to throw a shot it good but after that .It's good for fishing.i use to play with one a long time ago When Ginky was sellin them in NY and a lot of people jump in the band wagon but when i went back to a maple shaft i saw that it was not the shaft it was the way i had to cue up to make the shot i needed to make .So back to maple and there i will stay..I played with a lot of custom cue in my time And i will never go back to a 314 cue .Cause i know what i want in a hit on a cue..And all i have to do tell the cue maker what i want and he makes it the way i like ..So u can keep it .And if u want i'll sell the one i have to anyone who love them cheep.just to move it ..I can't even break with it now that is sad in my book-->>_') :p

I believe it just takes time to get use to a new shaft. I was playing horrible with my shaft for the 1st few weeks, then i put in some time and adjusted my stroke. Now i love it.

glad to see 95% of the reponses, hated predator as well. thank you! i guess what i'm saying is this--- RIPP OFF!!! why charge so much freakin money for a shaft, that sucks? you know why? because they spent tons of money in advertising, and need to make the money back, so they double up the cost of those rotton predator shafts! that's why i LOVE Mali cues, inexpensive, great hit and balance, they look great ,it's a a win-win situation. and lastly, for those who say you have to get used to a shaft, i totally, totally disagree!!!!!!! i feel with a cue, tip or shaft, if you don't love it from the first hit, MOVE ON!

I'm going through that same adjustment now. It is really a pain in the ass and my ability to hit inside english has disappeared. I don't know how long I can punish myself like this but I do love the feel of the maple shaft. Torn!

I was switching back and forth between the maple shaft and the pred. I just decided that I really liked the way the maple shaft plays and have to stick with it. Just give it more playing time until your mind adjust to the characteristics of the shaft and you eventually won't have to consciously aim with adjustment for deflection.

I think it's more that the people who use Predators began to see the pointlessness of defending its attributes.

Saying the "hit" is undesirable is fair, since hit is subjective anyway. But calling Predators merely hype is just wrong, because they perform as advertised. They are a very low deflection shaft, and if that's what you want then a Predator delivers its promise.

"The Silencer" either choose to ignore the facts, or he just has no clue. This is a pretty retarded thread in any case.

Tried a friends very expensive and rare Bear cue fitted with a 314. Great balance and hit...very low deflection. All in all a superb package.

In a few days I'll be getting a new P2 cue from Predator, but I have chosen a Z shaft instead of 314. Even though I currently play with normal 12.75mm, I'm confident that the thinner Z shaft and its different taper will suit my style of play perfectly.
