Any action in San Diego

Eh. I've heard that the only action in San Diego is with a couple girls or a tennis player.

Just go and ask where you can find Victor or Sam. I'm sure they will play you.

Is Sam M. back in SD?

I thought he moved to TX a few years ago. After Sam and Louis Ulrich left, only Victor I. and maybe one or two others play top level (pro or near pro) pool that I can recall in SD.

Dan Wallace might still be in SD, but he seemed to not look for action too much. Great tourney player, though.

I'd just go to the On Cue tourney night and see what's happening. There are still a number of good players in SD who might match up for a little dough.

There are plenty of players that will match up out of SD. Louis is back and I'm sure he'll give you a game. Dan usually doesn't match up but he might if you ask him nice. Johannes will match up with just about anyone. Vic will match up. I'm not much of a money player but I'll play some cheap sets with anyone even. me and Dan match up for fun or time every once in a while playing even.

Me and louis played for time not too long ago adn that was fun. I don't mind paying for his time to get some good matchups. I even had a chance until I missed a couple of nine and ten balls.

If you want action in SD, you can get it.

Sammy is not in SD but he had moved back from Texas a while back.

heard college billiards is the place to play. too bad i didnt find out about it till i moved back to texas. Spent 2 years playing at gaslamp billiards. I mustve spent a fortune on parking at that place. oh well.

There have been a dozen threads about San Diego if you want to search on here.

College has changed and apparently players go to On Cue in La Mesa more often. College does have some heated three cushion tables and is managed by Pedro Pedrabuena, one of the best players in the country.

You might get some action at the Hungry Stick in Claremont. I'm not sure if Mike Defino plays anymore but he's a good player and played there sometimes.

Society has some decent players who will bet light sometimes. Its been five years but my friends Rick, Anthony, and Peter Young used to play there and might bet some. Good local players.

I really need to visit SD again.

Speaking of SD, anyone ever played pool in Tiajauna. Personally all i ever did in tj was get drunk, pool never even crossed my mind. Im curious if any of you ever played in a pool hall there. Or if they even have one.

the hungry stick is a sh1t hole. a real dump last time i went there that is

college billiards wasn't doing that well last time i was there either.

Hey, considering that the Hungry Stick was legendary for biker fights and violence galore back in its heyday, what's the big deal if its a sh!t hole? Some of my buddies said they saw fights almost every weekend there when they were kids.

I lived a couple blocks away for awhile and never thought it was a great place or anything but some people like the food and good players actually did play there sometimes. Tables were almost ok but they always had crap cloth there. I never thought the food was special; a lot of people also liked College Billiards "Kingburgers" but they didn't do much for me either.

College has some cool history to it but even Louis U. posted he gave up on the place after his car got broken into or something. That part of town kind of sucks that way. Good ethnic food but thieves abound.

They did a good job refelting all of the tables to host the apa Regionals this past fall. They also refelted all of the Gold Crowns. I would say that it is a nicer establishment than it was for this reason.

I dare you to walk into a pool hall in San Diego and NOT get action. Hell the guy working behind the counter is a road player.

There's always a one day tournament going on at On Cue every Monday night. You can also try my friend/co-worker Rey Lorenzo for some cheap action.

People play pool in San Diego? Unheard of! :D

Seriously, On Cue Billiards is probably the best bet. Skill levels vary and there are a few kids around willing to gamble a little to improve their games.

I agree Hillary, and College Billiards has turned into a ghetto. I wouldn't want
myself caught walking in the middle of the night in a dark alley there, no way Jose...

For a list of all San Diego area pool tournaments, click here.

This list is current as of TODAY.

You should be able to find action at almost any of these events.

On Cue, on Monday nights, is probably the best for action.
Also, see Matt at Pacific Q in Encinitas (Wed/Thurs/Sat).
