Any good one eyed pool players?

"One eyed Butch" Woller was around Charlotte in the late sixties, pretty sporty. His favorite saying "If I don't make this shot, I'll walk home nekkid in the rain". Got shot and killed by a guy named Spivey around that same time.

Spivey was the guy who brought that gaff One Pocket game with 21 balls to Johnston City every year, until Harold Worst and Beenie busted him. Spivey used to travel around the South with that game, accompanied by Vernon Elliott.

Back on topic - The first good (very good) one eyed player I ever saw was "One Eyed" Tony Howard out of Detroit. Tony was a strong money player who took on many of the top players back in the 60's and 70's. Then there was Tommy Brown out of Florida who ran around with John Ditoro. They were a pretty good team. Andy Scott from Arizona may have been the best player in the state before Scott Frost came along. He and Koos Keizer used to go round and round. Andy moved overseas and has done well for himself and I don't know what happened to Koos (maybe up in the Northwest). He was a very good player. Kim Davenport did try to make a comeback and still played fairly well but nothing like his pre injury speed, when he was one of the best 9-Ball players in the country.

Aren’t we all forgetting about Morra (forgive my spelling) here went blind in his dominant eye. He even swiched hands!

John Morra, who is left-eye dominant and plays with that eye over the cue stick, switched a couple years ago from playing right handed to playing left handed because of shoulder or neck pain, not because of eye problems.

Care to expound on the story? Did Spivey get convicted?

Slightly off-topic..... Anybody have success playing with one eye closed. This style gives me an incredible sight line, but it's hard to grt used to.

The best one eyed player I've seen play personally is Mark Jarvis from Chicago,

I was just in Lexington Kentucky and we were talking about "One Eyed Tony" who was a legendary player in Kentucky. He was an incredible shotmaker, who could cut the paint off the ball from end rail to end rail. Remember, the greatest players do ALL their visual aiming ABOVE the shot, and when they get down to the cueball shotmaking is a FEEL.....that's why the champion players say "I have a feel for the pocket" because we can actually feel the object ball hit the pocket and watch what particular part it hits so we can consistently calibrate upcoming shots.

The best one eyed player I've seen play personally is Mark Jarvis from Chicago, he played one pocket and banks close to Bugs and 9 Ball close to world championship speed.

Kim Davenport was really impressive at the US OPEN, he got 4th (may have been 5th) after losing his vision from a freaky golf ball accident......I was amazed he did that, I finished 9th after not playing a tournament in 7 years, but that paled in comparison.
